A Hillsboro mother found her daughters missing winter coat on eBay, and now a teacher at the girls elementary school faces charges of theft and computer crimes.
Elizabeth Logan, 41, is on paid administrative leave from Jackson Elementary. She denies stealing the coat, saying she got it from a lost-and-found, Cmdr. Chris Skinner said. The mother searched the schools lost and found for the coat, then decided to turn to eBay for a replacement.
After finding a seemingly identical coat, she noticed that the seller was from Hillsboro. The mother alerted another bidder that the coat might be stolen, and the other bidder relayed the information to the seller, Logan. Skinner said Logan asked the other bidder to outbid the girls mother. Logans salary is nearly $69,000 a year, and she has taught 20 years at two elementary schools. She is to appear in court Friday.
Insane story, but a very smart, observant woman...
She [the teacher] denies stealing the coat, saying she got it from a lost-and-found,
This teacher probably resells everything from the lost-and-found!!!!
Who-needs-to-sell-cheap-coats-on-eBay-when-yer-makin’-$70G-per-year ping!
Well, if she wasn’t a poor underpaid teacher then she wouldn’t have to be selling her students’ coats.
Stupid, evil woman.
That said, I want to know where those $70G jobs are.
Hillsboro, Jackson..is it New Jersey? Not in the article where the town is, and the article is from an ISTANBUL paper??
That must not be the AVERAGE pay? I’m guessing it’s the TOP pay—30 years plus other duties????
GUILTY (from other thread)
How do you expect the teacher to make it working nine months for a measly $69K after twenty years experience? The mother is obviously undertaxed and the teacher is entitled to sell things from the lost and found to make up the shortage in her income!
The authorities need to look at her other auctions for sure. Maybe some other parents will be coming forward with claims against this teacher?
There is an news update to this story here with a video of her appearance in court last Friday, pleading not guilty: Link
Her supporters were wearing purple ribbons, what is up with that? Is this like a purple heart for wounded teachers?
Here is a link to the auction of the little girl's coat: Link
Teacher is 41 yrs. old. 20 years teaching. Probably close to average pay, I'm guessing.
It appears to be in Oregon
Our school does have an end of the year policy, for lost and found. The articles of clothing not picked up are given to a womens shelter.
We do however send out letters to the parents asking them to drop in and check lost and found before we send them off.
Children’s clothes on Ebay are probably the secret engine of the economy.
9 months at best.. Oregon has the minimum number of school days that the government allows. At least the schools did when I lived there.
Seemed there were ‘in service’ days all the time..
Leda designed children’s clothes and sold them on ebay, before she went back to teaching.
It is a huge market.
What is DSW?
DSW is a huge serve yourself shoe store (mens and womens). You walk up and down isles of stacked shoe boxes, try them on standing up and then take your choices to the cashier.
