Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400Richmond International Raceway
Welcome all to the the Nextel Cup race at Richmond International Raceway!
Since the first race in Richmond in 1953, the track has undergone three name changes, four configuration changes and one surface change, from dirt to asphalt. Lights were also added to the facility in 1991. RIR is the only track to hold all of its major events under the lights. Richmond's unique, .75-mile layout produces tremendous side-by-side racing, yet drivers obtain high enough speeds to give it a superspeedway feel. That rare combination still allows for the beating and banging that fans love, with the drivers' skill playing a major role. The track's fall date is now the final race leading up to the 10-race Chase for the NextelCup.
Crown Royal Presents The Jim Stewart 400 at RIR is named after Jim Stewart from Houma, Louisiana, The winner of an essay contest sponsored by Crown Royal during the festivities leading up to the 2007 Daytona 500. As guest of honor, Stewart will wave the green flag to start the race, as well as participate in the check and trophy presentations to the race winner in Victory Lane. Crown Royal judged the finalists based on written and video submissions chronicling consumers' favorite "Crown-Worthy" moments, which is defined as a memorable moment or occasion deemed "worthy" of toasting with a Crown Royal cocktail in a responsible manner. Stewart's winning entry chronicled his moments growing up fishing with his father and later christening his own fishing boat with a toast to his father.

Was only able to watch parts of this race and missed the last 50 or so laps entirely. Will miss tomorrow night as well. Have a family wedding I have to go to. Oh well, maybe next weekend.
At least I missed all those #*&$@#%$ commercials.

HERESNIP
RICHMOND, Va. -- If you think Toyota's Nextel Cup Series teams are frustrated by their performance in the first quarter of the season, you'd be correct. But it's nothing compared to how the manufacturer feels.
"It's frustrating that people have difficulty learning from history -- but I'm not the first guy to say that," said Lee White, senior vice president of Toyota Racing Development (TRD). "You can only go by results, in which case [the first quarter grade] is not very good." White's assessment is based on the past three seasons for the Toyota Tundra in the Craftsman Truck Series. Toyota entered the Truck Series in 2004 and, since gaining its first victory in July 2004, has scored 29 wins in less than four seasons and last year won the drivers' and manufacturers' championships.
NO KIDDING...

Think Im gonna run Bobby on the roster this week.Well, he practiced and qualified good. I think if he hadn't have had that pit road snafu last week at Talladega, he may have been in the top ten. Speaking of Dega, I'm heading over there tomorrow afternoon to do the Petty Experience ride-along. I can't wait to see what 170+ feels like!

Lawns mowed. Dog washed. Drivers picked. Steering wheel attached and playing some rally racing on the 'pute. Mama's goin' to the store to get some brats. All's well here. Jackknife, I perused your profile page, and from there, your blog.and see that you're a Holcomb and a history buff. I grew up with a bunch of Holcombs. Story has it, there grandfather discovered
Ishi, the last of the Yahi. Interesting local history around here. Was required reading in elementary school.
