The Mexican National Anthem was played at a CSU Pueblo baseball game on Sunday and now school officials are taking some heat over it.
School officials say they think some people might be upset over the song being played at all. They believe others might be upset because of how long it took for the American National Anthem to be played.
School officials say there were technical difficulties causing a few minutes to laps between anthems.
Thunderwolves coach Stan Sanchez says his players requested that the Mexican National Anthem be played to honor the Mexican players.
School officials say they did not mean to offend fans. But they also say it is their right to play the Mexican National Anthem when appropriate.
School authorities also say the controversy will not prevent them from playing the Mexican National Anthem in the future.
If the opposing team is from Mexico, this is appropriate and the proper order. Otherwise,...

I agree. We should not be playing other countries' anthems just because there might be an immigrant or two on an AMERICAN team. Unacceptable.
At Major League baseball games, the Canadian anthem is played prior to the American one when the Toronto team is playing in the U.S., but that's acceptable because the team is representing Canada. Toronto returns the favor when it hosts US teams (which is always now that the Montreal Expos have moved south.)
“Some” people were upset? Every American who hears this story should be upset. Constant capitulations to this group and that one will turn us into what? The United States of Fill In The Blank?

What the heck has happened to this country? It seems to have gotten much worse under Bush. Unbelievable. What a mess future “non-Mexicans” will face.

The joke will be on those who think all this deference for another's culture will be returned when critical mass in reached, demographically, in CA, NM, Co, Az etc, etc. Or, heaven forbid, the USA itself.
