Chef dishes clan chowder in 'Kennedy Kitchen'

Retired Kennedy family chef Neil Connolly dishes up only flattering tales of the famous clan in his new cookbook, "In the Kennedy Kitchen."

The chef, who kept the Kennedy kitchen stocked with lobster, clam chowder and cookies from 1983 to 1995, told an audience in Hyannis the other day that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was one of his family faves. The former first lady was "down to earth" and "considerate" of the hired help, he said.

Connolly also had kind words for Jackie O’s son, John F. Kennedy Jr., who would come into the kitchen and politely request a cookie.

"He'd ask me, 'Could I have a cookie?' and I'd tell him, 'You can have the whole tray,' Connolly said with a laugh. “He was a nice kid."

Sen. Ted Kennedy’s favorite meal in Hyannisport is boiled lobster. And, according to Connolly, Ted didn’t mind a bit that the chef dished up that - and other kitchen secrets - in his book.

Connolly told Kennedyphiles gathered at Borders the other day that his old boss gave the former family retainer the big thumb’s up on his project.

Because the behind-the-scenes anecdotes and other tales don’t stir up a pot of trouble for the clan!

So this guy was cook starting in '83...John John asked for cookies when he was 24, 25? LOL. Don't buy it. (John John is the only kennedy I have any respect for. FWIW.)

Better watch how you say “chowder”. Freddy Quimby (based on TMK?) went nuts if you said it with the “r” at the end.

John John would have been in his 20s at his EARLIEST when she was hired. Want a cookie lil' boy?
