Which part? Peterson or taking a RB at all?

We’ve got two votes for Russell, one for Johnson, and one for Peterson.

As far as the RB is concerned, if they’re dumb enough to not trade away this pick, then at least take the player that can have the most impact with the least risk — that’s certainly not a QB or WR, and unless there’s a super “stud” of an offensive lineman or defensive player that is a “must draft”, you’re going to see #1 used to take an offensive skill position.

Peterson shows up as the #1 RB on most lists I’ve seen.

I think that what John Clayton has reported would happen if Green becomes a Dolphin will happen (Green will in fact become a Dolphin). Johnson will the #1 overall pick by the Raiders. Every single scout and GM loves him; his pot smoking experience doesn’t seem to bother anyone.

The earliest I’ve seen him going in other mocks is at #3 to Cleveland. It’d certainly throw things for a loop. Heck no one had the Texans taking Mario Williams at #1 last year either.

I’m just trying to think it through logically, which of course will have no bearing on what Oakland actually does. :)

Casserly’s draft board was from some LSD trip. Reggie Bush wasn’t even the best available RB when the draft began according to him— Maroney was.

I’ll make it three for Russel.

I forget to mention that in the case of a tie after five votes I will break it. We have two votes for Russell and Johnson so with my vote the Oakland Raiders will select:

JaMarcus Russell Jr. QB LSU

The Detroit Lions (God help us) are now on the clock.

Yeah, I expect they'll settle for a 3 and Oakland will give the Dolphins a 4 or 5 to get Culpepper unless they think they can hold out until he's released.

Not to get ahead of things since they'll be on the clock soon, but if Miami gets Green and Oakland gets Culpepper, Miami could trade down a few spots, recoup the pick they gave up for Green and still get Russell or Quinn.

That’ll be Joe Thomas. Their LT is currently the highest paid lineman in the NFL who has never been to a pro-bowl.

And who will be spending Saturday fishing with his dad on Lake Michigan rather than in New York.

We’ve got two votes for Russell, one for Johnson, and one for Peterson.

There will undoubtedly be trades along the way, but speculations using those will make a mock draft very difficult.

That said, I think the raiders will take Russell. They need a QB and he's the best on the board.

Gains Adams for the Lions.

Seconded. Dear lord, do the Lions need a defense... it's not like drafting a WR every year is helping anything. (That said, they probably will take Calvin Johnson.)
