Look like EMC has VMware's upcoming IPO penciled in for late June and that the S1 registration papers should start circulating soon. EMC said in February that it would float 10% of the subsidiary, which could be valued at $10 billion.
Ping
That’s gonna be big. Hugh even!
Any guesses on the market value for VMWare? EMC bought it in 2003 for $625M. What is it worth today.....
This article puts it’s value at $10 billion, but that seems low by today’s standards. The company makes about $1 billion/year in revenue. Software companies, especially one with buzz, could be trading at 12 to 30 times revenue.
Just finished my first week of VMware ESX training.
Get your cert done while in the info in fresh....
I’ve never updates to 3.0, I’m mostly doing citrix currently.
That's my plan. Now if I can just get my manager to go along with my plan.
Well, if he paid the 3K for the class, what’s another couple hundred dollars? :-)
I want to know if they are going to give EMC stock holders a few shares to make up for the spin off?
VM is the only reason I own EMC....
That 10 Billion estimate is just for 10% of the company. EMC will keep 90%.
That’s the way I read it at first, but that doesn’t make sense, because, the VMware would be valued at $100 billion. The entire EMC is only valued at about $32 billion. VMware’s revenue is about $1 billion, and it may be hot, but there is nothing to justify a 100 times revenue valuation.
I know, but that is what this reporter is saying and you know how far that goes. I doubt anybody will really know the value until a month or so after the IPO.
