Where can I buy, at retail, a Toshiba / Toshiba-compatible laptop battery?

Posted on 04/20/2007 5:02:52 AM PDT by rudy45

Wife is leaving on trip tomorrow. Of course, the battery is dead/dying, and the only way to run it is on AC adapter power. The only way I know right now of getting a replacement battery is via mail/telephone/web, via Toshiba or OEM mfr.

Is there any place, in Philadelphia / NYC area, that I can buy such a battery at retail? I don't think Radio Shack carries, but maybe there's somewhere else. Thanks.

I bought a Dell laptop battery from a local store specializing in all kinks of batteries -- but in all honesty I think they had to order it. In a large city, though, I would think that you might find a store that might carry them in stock.

If she's going to be gone a few days perhaps you could have it overnighted to her destination.

The battery on my cheap Avaretec is creeping toward death, itself. That, and the thing gets so hot I have to prop it up on something for the fan to work.

We had to drive to Texas recently. I just bought a DC to AC power inverter at Wal-Mart. I think it was around $40. It plugs into the cigarette lighter and acts like a regular household outlet. The one I bought has three outlets. We were able to charge/run the laptop, a “breast pump”, and charge my wife’s phone at the same time.
