First there was Salt Lake City, and now Virgian Tech. Trey Perkins, a 19 year old student who is now on fox News spewed his story about being in the same room as the gunman while he reloaded his weapons at least once. Did he get up and charge the gunman with reckless abandon to save his fellow students? NO
When the SLC shooting took place, the local news broadcast a cell video of the shooter discharging his weapons. While the owner of the cell phone stood there and filmed the shooter, who coincidently had his back to the camera, he did nothing. Cowards, bystanders, and wimps. I am ashamed and disgusted. Maybe it is my military training or having being in a war zone that makes me know I would take action or die trying.
I would not be jumping out of windows or filming a murderer in action, and I hope to God that whoever reads this would not either. Where are all the men?
Do you remember your first DI experience, where you were so afraid of someone in your face yelling at you that all you could do was stutter? How you couldn't seem to think, even to save your life?
My first week in OCS made me think I had no ability to think at all, and that it would be a miracle to get through it.
You take these boys, who have never experienced REAL fear, and place them in that situation, and I cant blame them for anything at all. People don't know how to act in these situations without the kind of training or upbringing our grandparents received.
Where are all the men today? They are busy training themselves that it is wrong to look at a woman's ass and enjoy the view.
How do we know yet whether some DID get up and run at the shooter, only to be shot down?????
“Don’t bring a text book to a gunfight.” And many people laughing about the victims’ stupidity.
I am glad you have taken the time to read the witness accounts of “all” the students from yesterday’s massacre, but something tells me that the feat would actually be impossible. How did you get into the hospital rooms?
You might try withholding judgment on people who have faced the most horrific massacre in our nation’s history.
“Have you ever been in a group of liberal “men” for any length of time? I have, many times.”
Heh heh. Tell me more. I could use a laugh.
There is no way to say how the average person would react to this situation.
Thanks, If thats the case, it is truly sad. God Bless the professor.
Survivors’ statements.
I don’t think you can just tell yourself what you would do. There’s a basic difference between people that are good in a rough situation and people that aren’t, people that are good under stress have their perception of reality slow down, people that aren’t have it speed up. The people who have life slow down get the time to decide and act, the people who have it speed up think “holy crap what’s going on” and by the time they finish thinking that the situation is over. Some people are born in the former group but most are born in the later, you can be trained from the later to the former by repeated exposure (which is why the military uses realistic training and med students have to spend time in the ER), but without the training you’re in whatever group you’re in and chances are you’re going to go tharn.
You run toward a gun and away from a knife
LOL! Great observation! But some of us only pretend not to look......:-)
My wife of nearly 30 years would think something was wrong with me, if I did not sneak a peak.....
Same as 9/11 passengers and aircrew, which was official policy. Anyways, our leaders don't want people thinking for themselves. It would be messy and people might get ideas that are not in sync with the elite.
I have been in that situation, if only momentarily, and I can tell you what was going through my head.
It was, "If I'm going to die, I'm taking him with me!"
Just as I was about to take advantage of a lapse in his attention to charge him a police sharpshooter took him out.
This happened in a bar, in the Philippines, in 1982 when I was 24 years old.
My mode of thought hasn't changed any.
Is it the way we are brought up?
Is it the fact that the Boy Scout motto is "Be Prepared"? (Eagle Scout here)
Is it training from the military? (former squid here)
I don't know but I can tell you what I would do, because I have been there.
No flames from me. It describes today’s society pretty accurately, IMO.
Judgment? Oh, no, not judging here. Just lamenting the loss of courage in this country. And it’s not accidental. They’ve been brainwashing our kids not to EVER fight back no matter what from the cradle on.
PS, I said nothing about being in hospital rooms. Survivors have been talking to the press, on televised interviews and some in print. Since they were there and saw the whole thing, I consider that pretty good evidence of what occurred.
They have been successfully indoctrinated to wait for the 'professional' to come and save them.
Metrosexual Hokies?
“The Police Chiefs Association knows best.”
The union consists of a bunch of politicians in uniform. No one gets to be ‘Chief’ unless he or she kisses a lot of political butt and, unflrtunately, in most urban areas, that butt is liberal.
The Police Unions are the same, the leadership of the union is political to the core while the rank and file street cops are not. It is why the police unions refuse to ever survey their members on the issue. The leadership, in bed with the left, knows their members would not support the leaders position.
We’ve heard it ALL, already? I’ve heard of the professor’s heroic acts.....but maybe you’re right....he was 76, and hadn’t lived through the wimpization of American men over the last 30-40 years.
Thank you! I can't believe what some people on here are saying- one even implying the survivors are cowards. Running away/escaping from an armed person is probably the best thing to do in this situation and it is what saved the students in the professor's who stood in front of the gunmans class.
