"You mean the conspiracy kooks based their “analysis” of advanced cultures on Mars (and the inevitable guvmint cover up) on a single, poorly focused photograph!!?!! Say it isn’t so."

You'd think that such "advanced" culture om Mars would have noticed a much nicer, greener and warmer planet called "earth" and left that crappy place long ago, or at least written a giant "HELP US" sign for us to notice.

Maybe they felt most comfortable at -20° and arid. They saw all that heat and greenness as an symptom of a runaway greenhouse effect, making the third planet an unlivable hell.

I thought the pics were interesting, but it's clear there was no widespread, bustling alien civilization on Mars.

Imagine if humanity became extinct, but our relics remained. Think about some of the things we've constructed that would still be evident even after tens or hundreds of thousands of years. A major city would be in bad shape after all those years abandoned, but it wouldn't take an observer very long to figure out that a major civilization with an industrialized economy once lived there.

We see no such constructions on Mars.
