The Lord appears to people in many ways -- but along a country road in Plain Dealing, La.?
An image has appeared in the ground across the road from Ann Stromile's home. To her, it looks like an image of Jesus.
"I can just feel him," said the 75-year-old Stromile, who has been staring in awe at the image across the road from her house on Blankenship Road.
Her niece noticed it first, just before Easter.
"She said, 'I've got something to show you. This face.' And then I just froze," Blankenship said.
In the dirt at the foot of three pine trees, you first make out the image of eyes, a nose, mouth -- and what Stromile sees as a crown of thorns.
People have reported seeing Christ's image in the Shroud of Turin, tree trunks and burned toast. So why not etched into the clay along a country road in Plain Dealing?
Stromile sees it as a blessing God wants her to share.
So until the image crumbles or washes away, she says she'll spread the word.
Since she first saw the image, Stromile said, it's rained twice -- but it hasn't washed away. Dozens of people have stopped by to see it for themselves.
Good thing she doesn’t worship H.G. Wells or she would have said it looks like a Morlock.
Good thing it wasn’t on a waffle this time.
