April 10, 2007, Tuesday, DESICCATE

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

DESICCATE

Pronunciation: 'de-si-"kAt
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): -cat•ed; -cat•ing Etymology: Latin desiccatus, past participle of desiccare to dry up, from de- + siccare to dry, from siccus dry -- more at SACK
transitive verb

1 : to dry up
2 : to preserve (a food) by drying : DEHYDRATE
3 : to drain of emotional or intellectual vitality
intransitive verb : to become dried up

My brain is desiccated from learning how to use this computer! If I've made errors, please forgive me.

Nan seeks power preservation.
Goes WAY off the reservation.
With Dems sinking fast,
She knows it won't last.
Perhaps she'll try dessiccation.

Most of the time I wish the Dems would just dry up.

"And speaking of freeze-dried; has anyone besides me ever cleaned out the deep freeze and found unidentifiable dessicated lumps of packaged meat in the bottom?"

Cyber and I both have funny bones about packaging left over food and saucery. We freeze dry just about everything. The labeling is fun. We've thrown out more stuff because of that. One freeze dried sauce was the best Teriyaki sauce I had ever made, but we labeled it as "phlegm." We didn't know what it was, so we melted it and threw it away. We laughed. No more mislabeling.

A++++ for you, Cricket!

A++++ for you, Dave.

BTW, the word is "desiccate." Two c's, one s. I messed up a crossword puzzle yesterday with that word. LOL!

Senator Jacka$$ proves his head is full of desiccated dust where his brain used to be as he calls for closing Club Gitmo.

How anyone could even consider bringing those foreign fighters onto our soil id beyond me. One would have to be stupid or willfully destructive to suggest it.

Go outside and get some Vitamin K when it warms up. Don’t stay out too long or you’ll get sunburned! LOL!

If Desi Arnaz had married Kate Smith instead of Lucille Ball, we would not have had

but would have had

DesiKate.

At the Flyers games, Kate's famous "God Bless America" would have been followed by "Babalu."

I was a little early this morning. Didn't know if I could figure out this computer and how to get the dictionaries. I found them after about 15 minutes. Sheesh.

I listen to Paul Harvey or Paul Harvey, Jr. in the morning at 5:57 my time. I'm addicted to his two-minute stories.

how many people REALLY try to eat them?

You pinged just as I was about to go off line to take the girls to school, so I was able to jump in quick and then lave!!!!

I need to get some blackbeans a soaking for dinner tonight. A friend gifted me with her Easter ham bone, because she’s not a big fan of ham and hates all kinds of bean soups, especially those made with ham. I cooked a beef roast for Easter and so didn’t have a ham bone, and I’ve been craving balckbean soup for weeks.

The Real Poison of Political Correctness

To strike fear in the hearts of people
to DESICCATE free speech for some
while it's true words do hurt,
I've been on the receiving end of many
to shut the world's mouth is an error
to DESICCATE free thought and expression
is an enemy of our nation at it's worse.

I don't agree with what Don Imus said,
it's a cultural expression used by rap singers
if ya dig that stuff....it's okay I guess
for some, but not for others.

Flip Flop and I don't mean shoes.

Apologies, not worth a damn
a lively hood will go
we are all human and all will error
and be sure no forgiveness there.

This earth no Utopia,
a whipping up of rhetoric
the temperature to increase for sure
and constant yelling it's not fair!
Who the hell ever said it was?
We are born we get life,
we live it as best we can, improving as much as we can.
