Iced Coffee Explosion (Suddenly Iced Coffee Is Appearing EVERYWHERE)
Self | April 6, 2007 | PJ-Comix

Has anybody else noticed the sudden appearance of iced coffee at fast food restaurants? Yeah, Dunkin' Donuts had Coolattas for years but now they have regular iced coffee as well. On top of that McDonald's and Burger King are now prominently promoting iced coffee.

I'm not complaining. I'm a big caffeine addict but it is usually too hot for me to drink coffee in the afternoon. However, I now usually pick up an iced coffee in the afternoons to cool off and fulfill my caffeine needs. I guess the fast food restaurants have figured out that iced coffee is a good way to get customers to stop in.

I remember years ago when if you asked for iced coffee at some restaurants they would treat you weird. Thankfully, times have changed.

Iced coffee is nasty.

That is all.

There is a larger asian population now, and the market is just adjusting. I like iced coffee too. Picked up a taste for it in Japan.

Asia? I drank it right at home here when I was a kid. However, I do remember some waitresses treating me like a weirdo for ordering iced coffee. I would have to explain to them to just pour coffee over ice in a glass and add cream and sugar. They would do it but they didn’t look comfortable doing it.

Hey, I mis-read the title - I thought it was about exploding coffees!

I was just thinking I could use a caffeine jolt like that!

It’s called Jolt. In La-La Land there was a soda brand with some much caffeine in it that I felt like walking on the ceiling in the middle of the night. I remember reading two full books one night under its influence.

After a good hot panang curry, Thai Iced Coffee relieves the heat. From Wikipedia:

Thai iced coffee is brewed using strong black coffee, sweetened with sugar, heavy cream (or half-and-half) and cardamom, and quickly cooled and served over ice. Some variations are brewed using espresso. Thai iced coffee can be served with whipped cream on top for a layered effect, and garnished with cinnamon, vanilla and/or anise. It is a common menu item at Thai restaurants and works well after a spicy Asian meal.

I made my own iced coffee drink (cold coffee, ice cubes, milk, and Hershey’s Chocolate Syrup_ one evening in my Magic Bullet. It gave me diarrhea. That was the last iced coffee drink for me.

That's because you put chocolate syrup in there. Don't use chocolate in your iced coffee. That's why I avoid Koolattas. They give me the sh*t fits after a meal.

My house. My hip young adult children drink it all day long.

Red Bull is hideous! I tried some when I was over in Ramadi last year (god, has it been a year!), just to see what all the rage was about. I promptly spat it out.
