I thought the whole point of conservatism is government doesn't work.

That is never how I have thought about it. My view is that there are some things government should do -- and some things it shouldn't do. And the more time and money it spends on things it should not do, the poorer job it will do on things it should be doing.

BTW. I'm surprised that the FDA has jurisdiction over pet food. I would have figured that would have been under the Dept. of Agriculture.

I don’t see a big, bloated bureaucracy as the answer to this. Prosecution maybe and a suspension of food stuffs from wherever this wheat gluton came from.

Someone mentions China and I remember more then a decade ago 60 Minutes did a report on China intentionally sending diluted or bad medicine to some impoverished country.

If we had a government capable of doing it’s job we wouldn’t have to worry about poisons coming in from China or Mexico. But we just keep giving them more power...and they keep doing exactly what we tell them we don’t want them to do.
