Just a thought, but how do you think how people will react to the 30-year difference in the ages of Fred and Jeri?

It's the egalitarian streak in Americans. In Europe, historically (and in many other parts of the world to this day), young, beautiful women were handed out like party favors as brides to wealthy and powerful men. Couples like Fred and Jeri have nothing to do with this social custom, but their age difference reminds some people (especially older women) of it, and this earns them a certain amount of general disapproval without much reasoning behind it.

OK, most of the posters on this thread are guys and it’s more- power-to-Fred time. But from a woman who is seriously interested in electing a Republican president, I see a problem with Jeri, and by extension, with Fred. Below is a photo from 2006, when Fred and Jeri attended the White House Correspondents party.
What she is wearing suggests serious questions of taste and judgement on both their parts. If Thompson runs, handlers will try to get her to dress appropriately, but here you see what they both think looks good — and what I think looks bizarre, at best, for the wife of anyone who aspires to be president.

Not quite. She was born in 1973 and he was born in 1942. I don’t care about this issue, but I do think she was definitely looking for a father figure that is for sure. Would be interested in knowing what her father was like. He might not have been around or perhaps divorced. Typically women who goes for these elderly men, it is because they seek a father.
