So! The inventor of FORTRAN has died! Does that ever bring back memories...40 years ago I was a h.s. student taking one of the few computer classes offered at that level in the country...and what were we learning??? Fortran!....oh those cards! learning 010101...Our teacher got so excited about it all, he left the following year and joined some of us at our state university where he began grad studies in systems analysis.
Fortran...yes. I remember, too.

Certainly does bring back memories of the Carter years., however , I do think the outcome will be quite different and much sooner.
Yep, the inventor of FORTRAN has died, but FORTRAN is still alive!!! I know a few people who still work with it...Actually I think his bigger contribution was Backus-Nauer Form (BNF) which describes the behavior of computer language syntax; pity that he will be remembered for FORTRAN, which I always hated...;-))

Good morning everybody, rough news about Iran's aggression. Think I'll send the Drudge link about the RATS in the House being off their meds to my email list.
On lighter subjects Mr. Prairie and I have been learning new songs and I'm very excited about them. One of them is a Stephen Foster composition....they simply don't write lyrics like this any more...and it's a wonderful song called HARD TIMES.
I've also been working on a Dolly Parton song (one of my all time favorite songwriters) and another traditional bluegrass song that's written for a female singer and has an interesting melody and chord structure. So, I'm keeping my mind occupied in pleasurable activities and news/conflict to a minimum.
We are having what will probably be the last of our major music parties this Sunday as many of our musician friends have gone north. It'll be a substantially smaller crowd, I'm expecting about 20. Instead of 50, LOL! Hope the weather cooperates.

Sheesh! I hate when they do that... 37 cents..39 cents..41 cents. Why not 40 cents..45 cents.., etc? It makes it so much easier for everyone.
I believe the method to their madness is that using an odd number such as 39 or 41 results in more postage sales such as one and two cent stamps that everybody has to buy in order to use all their old stamps up.
Sorry about your crowd dwindling. But I really missed by friend who winters in Mission, and I'm happy to have her home again.

1) REGARDLESS of the situation, even if it involves national defense, the troops will all be mindlessly removed by 8/31/2008.....and.....
2)the date 8/31/2008 is so close to the election that the disastrous effect of our premature withdrawal and surrender will not be clear enough to the voters to voice their disapproval of the CRAT devastation at the election... :( :(
Iran has set off an international incident by seizing those Brits....I want everyone to get prepared....mentally for war with Iran....its coming.

How soon do you think? Of course, I have already paid for the Disney trip, so it really won't matter to us financially. I am more concerned about spikes in terrorism.
