Republicans are probably done
3/15/07 | Vanity

Posted on 03/15/2007 3:21:31 PM PDT by pabianice

This will be a short post. If the Republicans, against the backdrop of Clinton/Reno, cannot show the public that firing of eight US Attorneys is perfectly acceptable, and that the Democrats' jihad against them is way out of line, they are finished as a political party. What takes its place I do not know.

Republican Party, 1860 - 2008

True. They've gotta quit taking it on the chin.

I have a good response to that, but I doubt I can say it on this forum without violating our standards.

The Rs are not done and might take the White House and the Senate in '08. What is not clear is what it means to be an R.

To get a glimmer of understanding of what the Bush dynasty is all about, read Compromised, Bush - Clinton - Cocaine" by Terry Reed and John Cummings.

A few folks still call tin foil hat stuff on it, but those folks are getting fewer.

After seeing Bush do all he can to throw away the Republican Ace in the Hole Card (national security) and the resultant capture of both Houses of Congress by the Democrats, yes the R's have a tough fight ahead.

Oh well, God's in charge!

Or learned to fail from. Bush never seems to fail to go along with whatever whack job notions the lefties come up with. I mean, he actually took this "global warming" crap seriously. If he would have just called it a "scam", I might have been able to resurrect some respect for him. As it is, he's got 3 more years to wreck us before he walks away and we likely get another out and out lib like Hillary or Rudy. The difference between those two is just dress size.

I don't know what's going on, but something is up on immigration.

I am so sick of the hysterical dems creating scandals out of whole cloth. When they promised change, they sure didn't deliver it. I am content to let thr R's stand by while they make asses of themselves.

I'd be more upset if I didn't think Gonzalez was in over his head and wouldn't mind seeing him go for incompetence, for not keeping track of the FBI spying on us, and for being incapable of getting the facts correct when sending his representatives to tell congress about the attorney firings.

I will be very glad when this current administration is out of office.

I'm in agreement with pabianice. Looking at history, and the mass firings by President Clinton of all those U.S. Attorneys, the only response due the Democrats when they expressed their outrage was: "Would you like some cheese with that whine?"

But what seems the most shocking, and I sincerely mean shocking, is that there is the appearance that Gonzales does not completely understand the authority of his office. I would actually like to have heard something like: "It was an executive branch decision, and those who doesn't like it can hold all the hearings until 2009 and beyond, but don't bother trying to subpoena our people or any documents, because we will supply neither."

And the decision by President Bush to have Gonzales respond to questions makes me queasy.

Gonzales has been an utter disaster and only Bush is to blame; if he wasn't hispanic, he wouldn't be there. I miss Ashcroft dearly.

It's not the Republicans, it's Bush with his suicidal "new tone".

That is bunk. It is the RNC that has not stepped up ONCE in the past 6 years....constantly expecting the WH to pull all the weight on issue after issue. It was the GWB that won in 2000, it was GWB that won the Senate back and gained in the House in 2002 (as those running ran WITH him)...it was GWB that won in 2004 (and added seats in the House and Senate)...

Then comes 2006 and the GOP runs away from GWB (as the MSM keep telling them they must)....and what happens...the GOP losses big time...

The RNC has been pathetic about supporting the war, counter the DEMs/MSM lies and spin on the war.....the RNC has been pathetic about standing firm on Gitmo or any number of other issues. Hell the RNC couldn't even put a campaign together for drilling in ANWAR (with gas prices any nearly $3).

It most certainly has been the RNC.....GWB has taken more arrows and been the subject of more lies and hate over the past 6 years....all the while standing firm in his resolve (while the loser RNC does nothing to take on the DEMs....and expects the WH to come up with every magic bullet).

No, I don't think it's anything to do with photos--it's the oil.

Rudy gave back the check--something Bush could never do (religion of peace, handholding).

Aljazeera towers would've been twisted from the heat of laser-guided bombing--but the "new tone" means no ass left unkissed.

We're ready for an SOB--we've had President Kumbaya long enough.

Oh, and Brits blame it all on the Joooz--it's all Israel's fault for occupying and oppressing and just being Nazis--that's the summation of the Brit mind by the quietly brilliant (and fearless) author of Londonistan, so your urge to throw something through the screen when the BBC beeyatch sneers about Israel, yes, it's right on.

There's a distinct tendency for GHW and W to be the organgrinder monkeys for the sheiks.

Some might think there are photos, but I think it's the oil.

I would decapitate their regime and take their oil, leave their meteor museum as a glass parking lot as a lovely parting gift, but that's just because I was rejected by the Council on Fawning Relations.

If it wasn't for Cheney's heart condition I would be fully in favor of tossing Bush out on his ass right now.
