They were still friends, in spite of what happened with the house. Ben/Ford hadn't figured out yet what ANS had done to them, because she was secretly IM'ing and emailing them, telling them she'd pay - but she never did.

I'm still confused, though, about when ET did this interview with Ford. I'd never heard of nor seen the Shellys until after Anna died. Never watched ET after Daniel died, so I don't know what they or the other tabloid TV shows reported on at that time.
