Thanks to Anna Stern may have an excuse for why he didn't let Daniel's phone call go thru. It appears that Anna told authorities that Daniel had gotten abusive in California.

I think that the word abusive might mean he told Howard to mind his own business and get out of her life. Everything is a mess and it wasn;t that way before you came around.

Was Anna always waiting for a call for Daniel? Did Howard simply lie to Anna and hangup? Did he go to the detective BECAUSE he couldn't get through to talk to her personally??

I can't tell you how many times my son and I hung up on each other. But we always worked it out.

This is shocking that Anna said that about Daniel, after all that poor kid had to put up with his whole life...IMO he could have been so terribly frustrated with his mother's three ring circus lifestyle...
