Well, as far as I know, psychopaths are hard wired...not to say you can rule out the environment totally but still....these guys speak to family in a sympathetic way- in other words, they garner sympathy for the victim (aka, psychopath).
If the family is gripped by loyalty, then the psychopath has a stranglehold. I think that that is what has happend in this case. The family will blame everything other than HKS out of loyalty and extreme empathy to the psychopath's targetted lies. IMO, HKS's family has as much knowledge as a victim of HKS.
Yes, I agree with the poster (sorry, I can’t remember who it was) who posted that you can’t always blame the parents (or something like that). He or She stated that you can raise 2, 3 or 4 children the same way, and sometimes one (or more of them) will turn out completely different from the rest. I’ve seen this first hand in my family and I totally agree. My 2 sisters and I wore born approximately 2 1/2 years apart, and were raised exactly the same and during the approximate same time period of my parents’ lives. Yet, I have one sister is just not right. She is not a psychopath or sociopath (at least I don’t think she is), but she has always had problems ‘grasping’ that her actions lead to ‘consequences’ and she feels that certain rules (of life) should not apply to her. I believe that some people’s BRAINS, including my sister, but most definitely psychopaths and sociopaths, are just ‘wired’ differently than the rest of us. JMO, of course.
BTW, I love my sister, and she is not violent, but she has hurt people in other ways by her actions. Mostly, I wanted to point out that she, and some other people that aren’t ‘wired’ right, don’t usually give any thought to the consequences of their actions, AND even when those consequences OCCUR, they do NOT BELIEVE they are in any way responsible for them....I hope I made my point bc I’m definitely not trying to slander my sister or anything...lol
