Just remember that Howard is in the "I Hate Mommy" video. Howard is shoulder to shoulder with Anna, about a foot away and TWICE, he leans into the viewfinder and whispers the same thing to Anna: "Say that this is on a recording" to your mother.

I'm going to guess that it was either left on Virgie's answering machine or that Howard actually sent an audio tape. Either way, I hope Virgie has it because it will LIKELY be different from what we saw.

I think Howard set the camera up for this and never realized that he was in the video.

In other words, there was no two way conversation between Anna and her mother. Maybe Howard made this tape because he had left something out of what went to Virgie....otherwise the original would have been played. I'll bet if you looked at all the known videos/movies of Anna, you'll find this vehement acting face a few times.
