Paternity of Anna Nicole’s child still a mystery

NASSAU, Bahamas (Reuters): DNA test results ordered by a Bahamas judge to identify the father of late Playboy Playmate and tabloid star Anna Nicole Smith’s six-month-old baby daughter, Dannielynn, were not made public on Tuesday.

The tests results, from a DNA swab of the child, had been widely expected to be revealed during Tuesday’s proceedings in a Nassau court.

But the closed-door session ended about 1-1/2 hours after it began without shedding any light on the paternity issue.

Damian Gomez, an attorney representing Smith’s longtime companion and lawyer Howard K. Stern, said the Nassau court proceedings would resume next Tuesday.

Participants, citing a gag order, said they were unable to comment on matters raised in the courtroom. Bahamian courts operating under British legal guidelines prohibit the identification of minors in court proceedings.

Court TV quoted an unidentified source as saying the DNA test results were not revealed in open court.

Smith’s death in a Florida casino hotel on Feb. 8 touched off a storm as various people fought over her body and also over her baby, who could one day be worth a fortune if the buxom blond’s estate wins a decade-long battle to inherit millions from her late oil tycoon husband.

Smith was buried in the Bahamas on March 2 after a funeral where mourners included Stern, listed as Dannielynn’s father on her birth certificate, and Los Angeles photographer Larry Birkhead, who also claims paternity.

Birkhead has sued for paternity in courts from Los Angeles to Miami to Nassau but some other men have also claimed they could be Dannielynn’s father.

Florida officials said last week that an accidental overdose of prescription drugs including a potent sedative killed Smith, ending weeks of uncertainty over the former topless dancer’s sudden death.

I’m not exactly sure about which and ‘how many’ laptops they searched. I BELIEVE they may have access to Anna’s laptops since there were statements released that the Seminole Police were not sure they could obtain a warrant to search ‘some’ or ‘one’ of the laptops, since they?/it? had been reported stolen. I’m assuming those/that laptop(s) were the one(s) at Horizons that G. Ben and F. Shelly took. BUT...I do recall, that Perper said he was ‘allowed’ to search HSK’s computer WITH HIS ATTORNEY’S PERMISSION. Also, I have read that either HKS’s attorney (Sanchez, I believe) or Karen Eroshevich ACTUALLY HELPED Perper go through the emails in HKS’s computer!! That is INSANE...first of all, he only had access to HKS’s computer THROUGH his attorney, and second of all, either Sanchez or Karen Eroshevich (and it seems like I remember it was Eroshevich) was HELPING Perper go through the emails on HSK’s computer!!! When I saw this on TV (about a week ago), I was even more ‘shocked’ to hear either Sanchez or Eroshevich (and I am pretty sure it was KE and NOT Sanchez) say that she helped Perper go through the emails in HKS’s computer by “telling him which emails were relevant”!!! I could be crazy, but I remember hearing that from KE, or possibly, Sanchez...but I think it had to be KE bc it was aired on the same day as ANS’s autopsy results (and I hadn’t heard of Sanchez before that, so I’m almost positive it was KE that said she HELPED Perper go through the emails on HKS’s computer)!! Amazing!! Just unbelieveable to me!!

I tend to believe that Vergie doesn’t read those blogs or bother with the ‘hate’ media. She is just doing what she has to do for her daughter, her grandson, and her granddaugher! Kudos to her for BEING THERE (at every court appearance) and for fighting for her child and grandchildren!!!

Also, if she was only trying to ‘turn a buck’ off of her daughter, don’t you think she would have plenty of stuff to sell?? I mean, if she still has Daniel’s baby pictures, I’m sure she has plenty of Anna’s stuff (especially considering how she just moved and ‘left behind’ those diaries, and all). I don’t think Vergie is in the Bahamas to get a ‘boatload’ of money (no pun intended). In fact, her presence at ALL of the hearings convinces me that she is exactly what she claims to be....a grief-stricken mother and grandmother, who wishes she had been able to save both her daughter and her grandson..AND is doing everything she can to save her granddaughter!!

AMEN! I remember the Jeffrey McDonald case and I agree that Virgie will ‘stay the course’ until justice is served. I guess I admire that bc that is EXACTLY how I would be if my child was ‘found dead’ (yeah, right) under suspicious circumstances! The media doesn’t seem to realize that if you are a Mom, your child is your “child” forever, and nothing changes that...it doesn’t matter if your child is 2 or 42!! Also, I would LOVE for the media to see or hear what I’ve said (or interview my friends) about MY OWN MOTHER!! Honestly, if I died tomorrow, HKS’s lawyers could EASILY make a case against my mother based on things I’ve said in the past...and if they won, I guess my mother would never be allowed around my kids at all!! Which is INSANE to me, because I am a woman, and I get MAD at my mother all the time and I actually SAY THAT SHE IS A CRAZY BITCH AND I HATE HER, but that is because I am MAD!! In REALITY, she is their second mother, and my kids LOVE her and my Dad more than I could even express...and if someone were to take my mother away from my kids (especially if I was dead), it would SCAR them beyond belief!! If I had a choice when I died, I would rather my mother have custody of my children than my husband..well, actually, I would want them to SHARE custody, but as much as I sometimes “hate” my mother, I KNOW she ALWAYS wants the best for my kids! I think Anna knew that also...

Ok, so semantics about associations would probably prevail there - even if he did write a book with the good Dr./Esq./ME/MS Perper. Not to mention how Perper backed Wecht's proposed appointment as the Allegheny County's ME in 2005 (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05331/613152.stm). But nah, they're not friends. What I don't understand is where Wecht claims (see above video) "And I happen to know that it is incorrect to say that the Chloral Hydrate was not accessible to her.(1) That is an erroneous report. The Chloral Hydrate is something that she was taking in the Bahamas. It had been prescribed for her(2) and she would swig from it. And she took it." You're right, he BLABS! So he's now telling us that he has inside information.(1) He's also telling us that the Chloral Hydrate was prescribed for Anna Nicole Smith.(2) Is there another prescription for Chloral Hydrate I missed somewhere? One that was written OTHER than the one for Howard K. Stern by Khristine Eroshevich? What disturbs me about his nonchalant attitude, is that ANYONE with a modicum of research capabilities, can ascertain that any combination of the "therapeutic" drugs with chloral hydrate, is LETHAL. Perper acknowledges as much when he stated, "cause of death was combined drug intoxication". Methadone and Valium, for that matter, taken together, is lethal. So it really doesn't matter if the other drugs in her system were of "therapeutic" levels, taken with something else, they cause death. Yet these drugs were prescribed. I'd just like to know why these so-called DOCTORS have the audacity to get up on the podiums of the media and act like this is normal medical practice? Sorry for the delay in responding. Thanks for yet more corrections to the ‘Perper Press Release’. I’m really shocked by the amount of errors on this report. They had weeks to get it right and surely would have known the media and people like ‘US’ would be checking it over.

If they couldn’t get simple facts straight, what about the important things, - like the Manner of Death? As everything seems to be with this case, just another example of unreal. Thanks again for the pointing out the incorrect dates!

Gosh, maybe we can pass some laws holding doctors ‘unaccountable’ for everything! We really should do that, since those sweet ‘life-savers’ have to pay so much for that darn ‘malpractice insurance’! Please NOTE my sarcasm here...and also know that I absolutely know many GOOD and even GREAT doctors who ACTUALLY went into medicine to SAVE LIVES...so don’t consider my sarcastic remark as an ‘umbrella’ remark for all health-care workers...but I think it’s obvious, that there are a few out there that are not looking out for the best interests of their patients...

The part of the (Christmas) video that I noticed was Anna was completely drugged up and had Danielynn in her lap and she nearly slid off to the floor. KE came and pulled her off Anna’s lap.

If Anna hadn’t died, that child would have had to be raised by nannies. Unless she got clean and sober, there would have been no way Anna could have cared for DL. At which point, on second thought, LB would have had every right to take DL away, in my opinion.

Actually, it was Lilly Sanchez who said she ‘assisted’ Dr. Perper in going through all the emails. No doubt, she had great influence over ‘perception’ in determining relevancy.

The reason you thought it was KE and not Sanchez is because we were only made aware that Sanchez was even on the case as long as she had been, was, I believe the day she gave the threatening presser. I thought she had just been hired too ;)

What ticks me off more than anything, is I can’t even remember the last time we saw or heard a peep from KE...WHY is she off limits to the media? Why aren’t they hounding her? I know I’ve said this before, but given the information we have, it seems the media is, for some reason, giving KE a break, when they should be ALL OVER HER. Following her, filming her, updating us on background information, etc. The more pressure put on her, the more she’s likely to turn on HKS...so why isn’t our all powerful media taking any action?

OK...lol, I must be the only one here....so I’ll ask this question, even though this is OT.... but for those of you who are stuck at home most of the time due to disabilities (and it seems there are several of us), two things, 1) if anyone has any great ideas for some kind of legitimate ‘at home’ work to earn extra income, freepmail me with your ideas. I keep wracking my brain, but I keep coming up with nothing ;) and 2) does FR have a thread that someone might have started for those who are ‘disabled’? I’m horrible about searching here.

I agree, KCW. Hopefully there are many more good doctors out there then the ones who have turned much of society into happy-prozac-popping zombies.

Unfortunately, I don't know too many people who aren't on an anti-depressant or sedative type drug these days. The problem is these drugs are highly addictive and combined with other drugs, are lethal. There's a lot of money at stake here if we, the public, question why the 2nd cause of death in America, is drug overdose (quoting Wecht here). By those margins, that's a hell of a lot of people.

When we see the details of this case, we not only see drug abuse firsthand, we see suspicous activity. There's the solicitation for Dr. Kapoor to prescribe drugs. But when he refuses, Eroshevich writes them herself. The Pharmacist refuses to fill the script. Then she writes the scripts again, to other people. Yet Wecht states that at least the Chloral Hydrate was prescribed for Anna Nicole. I'm surprised Kimberly didn't pick up on that.

When I decided to actually sit down and do some research on Methadone; the management plans that are required of a person to be on that drug, and the detox programs they must agree to, I understood more then I did before. It makes sense now why her rehab was required and why it failed. Because Howard was bringing in the Meth during her rehab. Surprised she didn't drop dead from that honestly.

Ultimately, consider who is going to incur the costs of such a multi-jurisdictional matter that is going to bleed resources, money, time and manpower? The fallout that would ensue from all the families who suffered similar tragedies. Changing the laws and enforcing the penalties of prescription drug dispension. The list goes on. Squashing it, is just easier. Think - bigger then even Anna Nicole.

So, on the schedule today is the hearing on whether they will move forward with Stern’s contesting of V.D. and changing the Bahama constitution (what nerve) or the judge throws the whole thing out and makees the decision to move forward with the inquest.

I heard that if he allows Stern to continue stalling, it could take years to find out COD on Daniel. Silly me, but if that happens you’d think our government could pressure them to get the job done, seeing as he was an American citizen who was just visiting their country. They never should have postponed in October!
