I'm not a fan of the show either.

I mean, it's about this 'package' which I gather is
singing VERY loudly and waving your arms around. A beautiful voice is totally unknown (which is why I can't watch it).

I've heard one or two,
no make that one, who actually has a good voice (Josh Groban?) The rest are just volume and emotions and cute or charming.

The horror to me is that it's picking up in other countrys like "Star Primes" where they are trying to get the girls to act sexier while they sing, and the actual vocal quality gets ignored. Sad, because the great voices are being lost because of this crap.

What is lost or gained culturally by this show is irrelevant.

I don't think the human brain can comprehend how much money this show has made for everyone that has been associated with it.

Thats what its all about.

If you have watched the show this year then you would know that there are two very talented female singers and certainly a few other people that have a chance to make a career in music.

Plus, the format of the show introduces older music back into the mainstream and it simply blows out the rap, hip hop, pop or sensitive country crap that pollutes the airwaves today.
