It seems to me that every change in the economy brings opportunity. So then, if the economy collapses (recession or depression), what opportunities are there? Open for discussion....
It's not whiskey that the ditch jumpers are trading, now.
You're entirely welcome. thanks for letting me share. I miss that man EVERY day. He died four years ago at age 89, while taking his afternoon nap in his favorite chair. We should all be so lucky!
And, no. He made his "millions" in legitimate real estate transactions and as a Machinist and Sheet Metal fabricator for the most part.
Blue Collar for all of us, all the way. No better life, actually. ;)
Life is full of changes, ride the crest of the wave and make the best of it! : - )
You "ankle biter" you, my father was a teenager during the depression. ; )
Real estate is always the key. Unless you wanna buy gold bars and hide them in your basement, which isn't a bad idea, either. : )
Ankle biter? Well, I never!
(Unless it was under the tenants of Holy Matrimony and that's what he was requesting, LOL!)
Will you be my Cyber Grandpa? I need one. I've lost both of mine, and a "girl" of 46 still really needs a Grandpa.
I still have a Dad, but he's off traveling the globe with his new "Trophy Wife" who is 70, LOL!
Wonders never cease!
I'm 50 and my Father lived as a teenager during the depression.
(Just think about the piles of trials my Mother went through during her golden years....)
PSST, gold will hold it's value to an extent, however if nobody can afford to buy it, sitting on it only makes for a good replacement for a 3 legged stool.
Well, if the whole thing collapses, gold works like money, see?
If the whole "thing" collapses, a well placed trust is at hand and that trust isn't in a monetary system.
Everyone needs a backup. ; )
Huh? Now I'm corn-fused. My Grandpa was born in 1915. He was 22 in 1937. The Great Depression started in 1939, did it not? So he was 24.
Grandpa married Grandma December 15, 1934, when they were both only 20. My Dad was born in 1937, so my Grandpa was only 23, not 25 as I stated earlier. Sorry!
I'm my own Grandpa, LOL!
So...your Grandparents waited a bit longer than mine to have kids, that's all.
I still bow to your four long years of gained wisdom over me, though, LOL! :)
My Mother and Father got married in 1938 and YES I am 50 as of this month...
Booze, cigarettes, embalming, barbering, and title work.
Counterfiting.
I'm not thinking of the usual business cycle. I'm thinking of the economic collapse that will occur if we don't make some major changes to our nation's finances. The fact that too many Anericans no longer make money- they just manage debt- only exacerbates the problem.
LOL!!!! Yessssss hehehehe.
