I really really feel for the girl child. As a victim of molestation myself (but not this severely, much more mildly) I can tell you it will screw you up for life.

I think that his family who is saying "give him leniency" is probably very liberal, as he most likely is.

After five years of being molested, that poor girl is going to need serious rehab herself. If it's out of character for someone to murder someone else, does that bring the victim back to life? Is the victim of this abuse going to be less traumatized because this was 'out of character?'
