**WARNING: GRAPHICS INTENSIVE THREAD**
You love them, you hate them, you love to hate them. Hollyweirdos, those wacky leftists who gather together for the annual group hug known as the Oscars. And how fun it is to heckle and razz them as they parade down the red carpet posing for the cameras, granting vapid interviews to equally vapid interviewers, too serious about making their political statements and social commentaries to realize the joke's on them. No one watches their movies. Just look at box office receipts. The money makers are the family films - the ones take it easy on social commentary and political statements. No one gives a flip about their art. They are such sad cliches - dozens of little emperors who have yet to realize they're wearing no clothes. And that's why they're SO FUN!
Speaking of clothes...

Okay. I'm glad Departed won. It's not something I'll see...isn't it the gangster movie?
But at least it's not something I hated more. ha!
It's over! They should have called this the Algore Awards.
Good nite all!
She looked rather tall standing next to Nicholson didn't she? I think she's better now than she was when she was younger.
I agree. She is very pretty and that's a nice dress. It looks like she finally figured out that the "Annie Hall" look went out of style thirty years ago.
Do you remember the movie where Peter O'Toole played the guy who wanted to recreate his dead wife? Maybe I would recognize the name if I went to IMBD. I loved that movie. O'Toole is always good.
Oh yeah, Keaton always seemed to be showing up in a suit in years past.
Well, goodnite jonny, Mystery and all the rest of you good sports. You made the oscars (almost) worth watching.
I vote for this year's being the worst yet.
Anyone agree?
Yes I do. I'll have to look it up. Wasn't he getting the eggs from the Hemingway girl?
Did anybody notice that the lady who brought out Scorcese's Oscar was at least a head taller than Scorcese, Spielberg, Lucas, AND that other guy?
I agree. Pretty much bored to death.
Peter O'Toole has always been one of my personal favorites, along with Peter Sellers, John Wayne, and George C. Scott.
He was great in "Lawrence of Arabia", but my personal favorite is "Creator", a rather off-the-wall comedy from the mid-80's.
I haven't paid attention to how much she's selling of her latest album, but it isn't appearing on any of the charts...at least not high enough to be seen on any of the publicly viewable charts.
Also, for the first time in a long, long time, rock is making a strong comeback while the Urban (i.e., black) music is fading some. Most of it is nothing but trash, and finally some prominent black people are speaking out against it. (I offer a sincere thank you to Bill Cosby.)
something like that. O'Toole played crazy really well.
Creator--remembered it right before I clicked on his name at IMDB.
Nite! It was real.....
Thanks for the fun, everybody!!
You're good. It always takes me till the next day to remember something.
"Creator". I loved that movie.
Altura was just mentioning that movie.
I don't think that was part of the plan. Keaton seems surprised that she was going to have to read all the nominations herself.
(And Jack could've been buzzed on something too and didn't want to embarrass himself)
