"Tarsha Johnson, front, and Travaris Harrison place record albums in sleeves at the United Record Pressing company in Nashville, Tenn. on Jan. 25, 2007. Vinyl records aren't as retro as you might think. Many record collectors, DJs and music junkies still consider vinyl to be the gold standard of recorded music." (AP Photo/Mark Humphrey)

Last year 858,000 LPs were sold compared with 553.4 million CDs, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Something's not right about those numbers. The article states that this one plant manufactures 20,000 to 40,000 LPs a day. That would be 7.3 million to 14.6 million LPs a year just from this plant alone!

LPs rocks! The world's best turntable is the revered Rega P 3. Made in Britain but regarded as producing music on vinyl the old-fashioned way. As far music lovers are concerned, vinyl is still the way to listen to music.

Vinyl lasts, vinyl lasts, as I can see
That yesterday's song I'll play for thee
Vinyl lasts, vinyl lasts, an oldie true
On that old phorno music sounds like new
Give me oh give me the vinyl that lasts, lasts, lasts!
