Having just spent the last 10 years with a non-functioning, closeted, binge drinker who couldn't stop even when the Grim Reaper holds her by her barely functioning kidneys and liver, I say.....
damn...I don't know what to say

Poor guy! I don't drink, never did. It makes me sick right away, like immediate headache. There is a name for that, I can't remember but it is like being allergic.

A truly tragic way to spend one's life. We can only pray that this man seeks the "true" help he needs - and soon.

It's pretty hard to cause yourself harm when you have zero control over your basic motor functions.
I've known more than a couple young men who have lost control of the brain before they lost control of motor function and did some really bad stuff and got 14+ years in some cases.
Drinkings ok in moderation but in excess is don't cure nothing and can cause harm.

Drinking cost me my job, my house, ended my marriage, made me lose my family...But I think I'll give it one more chance.

Drinking helped me through a horrible divorce! It was a great comfort to me. Just because some people abuse it doesn't mean it doesn't have a use.
Fortunately I'm not an intemperate dope, or Irish, so it never caused me trouble socially, work, or healthwise.
Of course I'm re-married to the Best Wife in the World, so I don't have to drink so much now....
Enjoying a big mug of Guinness right now.

I used to be a full time drunk. It was costing me a fortune, not only for the alcohol itself, but in lost productivity. So now I put all of the money that I was spending on booze in a jar and at the end of the week I use it to buy myself something nice. Something like heroin or crack.
