FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A Florida judge in the Anna Nicole Smith body and baby battle went toe-to-toe Tuesday with lawyers for her mother and two men claiming to be the father of her infant daughter in a bizarre hearing that at one point even turned to prayers for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This woman was the center of controversy when she was alive and has continued this tradition in death. This whole situation has gotten totally out of hand.

The real star here is Judge Larry Seidlin, who is a trip (to say the least) to watch. His presence on the bench is somewhere between a hard line, "hang 'em high" judge and a stand up (sit down?) comedian.

I've noticed The Media has stopped calling Howard K. Stern Anna's husband after it was initially reported that they had gotten married?

There is not a single aspect of Anna's life that wasn't being litigated or investigated.

Death
Marriage
Daughter
Son
Residency
Bahama home
Trim-Spa

If there was no money that list would be a lot shorter.

1991 - Anna Nicole Smith - "I just hope I can get my hands on Old Man Marshall's money!"

2007 - Howard K. Stern - "I just hope I can get my hands on Old Man Marshall's money! "

They had what is called a "commitment ceremony", not a wedding ceremony. WTF is a "commitment ceremony"? I've never heard of that. Further degradation of the intitute of marriage.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 29, 2006 12:50 PM EDT UPDATED

Anna Nicole Smith and her longtime lawyer and confidant, Howard K. Stern, held a commitment ceremony in the Bahamas Thursday, her attorney, Michael Scott, has confirmed.

"It was low-key, on a boat," a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE. "It was a simple ceremony, exchanging vows."

According to a press release issued by TrimSpa, the diet-product company for which Smith is spokesperson, the couple, accompanied by a few friends and family and Smith's newborn daughter Dannielynn Hope, "made a commitment before God to be there for one another, to be each other's strength during this difficult time.

"Although the ceremony was officiated, it was not a wedding and no marriage certificate was issued."

On Tuesday Stern said on Larry King Live that he is the father of baby Dannielynn, born Sept. 7 – just three days before Smith's 20-year-old son, Daniel, died while visiting his mother in the hospital.

Stern told King of his relationship with Smith, "We love each other and it's been going on for a very long time and because of my relationship as her lawyer, we felt it was best to keep everything hidden. And we've done a pretty good job of that."

Dr. Cyril Wecht, a private pathologist hired by the Smith family to investigate Daniel's death, told PEOPLE Daniel had been killed by cardiac dysrhythmia caused by a lethal combination of methadone, Zoloft and Lexapro.

Wecht tells PEOPLE he reviewed tissue samples from Daniel on Thursday has now ruled out any natural cause of death. "There was nothing to suggest a subtle, cryptic, clinically asymptomatic condition, such as an inflammation of the heart," he said.

The death is still under investigation in the Bahamas

There was no marriage. Their little ceremony on that boat was a "committment" ceremony, whatever the hell that is. It was not legally binding.

Please post to the existing thread... I've got a bet going that it will hit 15,000 replies before the kid's father is identified. (Proceeds to FR at the next FReepathon of course) :~D

The will states that no future spouse could get her estate - you can be darn sure the "commitment" ceremony wasn't binding. LOL

In fact, I think HKS put that in there in case Anna snuck out and married someone while he wasn't watching. Anna probably never realized that was in the will.

This is too easy. Stern is a lawyer, so he knows exactly how to get the money. ANS and her son were murdered in two different countries specifically to complicate the investigation. Hello???

We hear and see all these theatrics. But IS there a criminal investigation going on? I never hear anything about that? Isn't it as plain as day that he killed both of them?!

There was an column posted here a few days back from the Sun Sentinel written by some humorless liberal (are there any other kind?) that had its panties in a bunch over comments some judge made from the bench. A real annoying whine-fest. Was it this judge?

I think that's why he killed then in two different jurisdictions.
