In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today. Tomorrow I’m bringing in chains, so beware.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

We're only one year and ten days apart.

Now look at Cyber and xs, they could be grandmas and grandpas to us. Hehehehehe! Uh-oh, I'm in trouble.

I assure you m'dear, there is nothing "good" about this morning.

The wind is blowing at 30mph, there is something wrong with the heat (i.e. I HAVE NONE) and I have been sneezing practically non-stop since 5:30.........I'm just plain miserable this morning.

ratiocinative (ràsh´ê-òs´e-nâ´tîv) adjective
Of, relating to, marked by, or skilled in methodical and logical reasoning. See Synonyms at logical.

I find the thing that helps me the most during heated discussions, especially here on Free Republic, is to analyze what about my opposition's posts makes me angry.

Once I've studied that, and tried to neutralize it intellectually, I can proceed to deal with the subject matter.

It is not easy to set aside anger, but vituperation and invective do not persuade, they only heighten temperaments.

Cold analysis gets to the heart of the matter, and also cools the rhetoric.

Is that my cake and Edith? I hate to have to choose one or the other, but everyone knows you can't have your cake and Edith too.

Thank you for the birthday wishes and greetings. One of the sweet ladies at my office brought in a cake this morning, and there was enough to share.

Happy Birthday to all the rest of the February WFTD birthday bunch.

I may not be exactly a spring chicken, but the candles on my cake didn't set off the fire alarm either.

A ratiocinative Congress would fight it's gun grabbing proclivities, if only out of a desire for self preservation.
