CHICAGO — An enraged Iranian immigrant used a 3-pound hammer to beat his wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law to death and then stabbed them repeatedly because he felt "disrespected," police said Monday. After the attack, Daryoush Ebrahimi, 55, also struck himself several times in the head with the same maul hammer he used to bludgeon his relatives, said Chicago Police Cmdr. Thomas Byrne.
"It was a very difficult scene, and that would be indicative of that type of anger," Byrne said of the two apartments where the bodies were found on the city's far North Side.
Police also found cell phone video messages and a letter that Ebrahimi left at one of the apartments, Byrne said. The FBI is helping translate the messages and letter, which are in Farsi. "Right now I wouldn't say it's a suicide note ... but it's more about, again, how he feels disrespected, and that's pretty much a reocurring theme in the note," Byrne said.
Ebrahimi has been charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Karmin Koshabeh, 44; his sister-in-law, Karolin Khooshabeh, 40; and his 60-year-old mother-in-law, Ileshvah Eyvazimooshabad.
He appeared in court Monday afternoon, where a judge denied his bond. Detectives said the family may have had a history of violence. We're getting signs that there has been some violence in the past ... to what degree I don't know," Byrne said. p>

This killing took place about a block from where I grew up. When I was a kid, in the '50s and '60s, this was a predominately Jewish neighborhood, and there was no crime at all. It's probably still a fairly safe neighborhood, but the ethnic composition has changed.
Why? State your case.
Well, problem is these people were Assyrian Christians. This particular account didn't include what the AP initially included, which was to get into MUCH detail about Assyrian Christians in the US.
In a way that they would never THINK of doing with a Muslim killer.
However, while someone can be a Christian, we cannot forget the milieu from which they may originate. Also, there ARE men who go nuts and kill their wives and other relatives over bizarre thoughts and don't need a religion or culture to be the wellspring of murderous rage.
I am afraid of the copy cat attacks too. I also wonder how many that we are never told they were Muslim happen too.
Are both Iraqi and Iranians known as Assyrians? In Central California, all the Assryians I knew were Iraqi - Doesn't matter, horrible story - but I'm curious.

I was not really referring to this particular crime but more to the terrorist attack in the Utah Mall and the muslim taxi driver terrorist who ran over yesterday over 2 students in Nashville TN.

I used to live about a half mile from there and, no, it is not a safe neighborhood anymore.
These days "safe neighborhood" is quickly becoming an oxymoron.
