Wow. Your not full of hate or anything are you? Wow!

So are Mac users a protected group now?

What does that have to do with my question? I was commenting on you personally having such a condescending execrable attitude toward people who choose a different OS than you. Do you detest people who don't drive the same make of car you drive too?

Hey Echo, off topic question. You seem pretty knowledgeable about the various Windows installations, so maybe you can help me on this one. A friend of mine at work, with Windows XP, clean installation. When you go to "My computer" and bring up the network drives, double-clicking on one of the drives doesn't open it, but brings up search or autoplay or something for the drive. When you right-click on the drive, the menu comes up with "open" as one of the choices, but it's not the top choice like it is on the computer in my office. I'm fairly certain that what's happening is that the order of choices for this menu is scrambled from the default, and Windows is pulling up the top choice from the menu as the default. Our tech guy came over and said, "just right click to open a network drive", but I think there must be a configuration option somewhere to change the order of choices in the menu. Do you have any idea where that is? Thanks.

I'm not really understanding the question correctly... are you able to do what you need to get done, but it's just a little funky?

Yeah, instead of double-clicking on a drive to open it, you have to right-click and bring up the menu. Open isn't the top choice, but down the list. On most of the other computers, if you right click, open is the top choice, so I assume the action on top in the menu is the default double-click option. The computer tech guy just said, right click to open it, because he didn't know how to fix it and it's just a minor annoyance.

I figure, though, that somewhere, there's a way to change the order of menu choices for that right-click, but have no idea where it would be.

it does sound weird to me, I never used "network" drives before, someone else had "problem" with a "network printer" and I couldn't help them... I;m NOT an expert on networking...
I DO NOT network my computers.... I keep them separate... hmmmmm... Do you have all the updates and such?(since it is a fresh install and all.. )

also you could try...
Start-->Control Pannel--> Administrative Tools ---> Computer Management "Disk Management"(I'm not sure if Network Drive's OR if the "shell is addressed there or not", but it sounds as though you have a shell problem to me... ) You know what i would do?

I would try Advanced Windows Care V2 Pro... try that and see what happens... IF it doesn't help it re-install...

Make sure you have the newest .net framework installed... and all updates... before you use any tools... and see if that fixes it.

Thanks. I'll try that. I wouldn't go so far as to re-installing, as it's a minor annoyance, not a major issue.

Good answer, thanks!

It really is too bad being a gamer condemns you to having to use Windows.

I can write all my corporate stuff to use the web cross-platform, but that will never work for games.
