Two pit bull dogs ripped off a man's left hand and badly mauled his right arm before other people were able to beat the dogs away.
"I couldn't believe I wasn't dead," James Chapple said from his hospital bed. "I'm going to church every day when I get out of here and talk to the man upstairs."

Amazing some of the comments on this thread, ban the dogs, eradicate the species, etc.
The mistakes made was BEFORE the attack, many dogs attack people, tiny dogs too.
Watch The Dog Whisperer, he takes pitbulls who were abused, abandoned, etc. and turns them into good dogs, it's the owners, not the breed.
"A co-owner of the business said the dogs belonged to his partner and were guarding the shop, which has been burglarized repeatedly. Charles Lawson said he didn't know how the dogs got out, but a door was open when he arrived after the attack"
another loving incident with the "breed of peace." They need to be exterminated. Period.
"His attorney tells us Lawson doesn't know how the dogs got out that night and when he returned to work the next morning, a bay door was raised and he found tires outside which had been inside."
From personal experience, German Shepherds are some of the most intelligent dogs you can find. Dobies are actually quite gentle. In recent decades, Doberman breeders have put a lot of effort into breeding aggressiveness out of them. Research specific breed info on the internet. All of the dogs that you listed have good traits.
Ever notice that this happens in the "cities"......as in inner cities?
Your average owner, meaning a good animal owner does not raise an animal as thus. If even a mild manner lab was considered the "big bad" and was raised as a mistreated fighter, the world would be hearing about the big, bad labs. Heck, even Yorkies for that matter.
Are you suggesting people be required to turn in their dogs for destruction
and those that don't comply should be subject to law enforcement
entering their homes and forceably removing and killing their dogs?
But, its just a dog. This could happen with any breed. Like all the stories of Collies and Labs you read about. Right?
All dogs are potentially dangerous.
Last night my brother's Lab-mix attacked their 15-month old daughter.
Criminalize and prevent their breeding, arrest the owners who do not turn in their "pet" and yes euthenize the rest.
Btw...Four fatalities so far this year due to dog attacks.
What's your guess on how many of them were attributable to "pit bulls"?
Canis lupus?
They are welcome in my home anytime!
Oh I get it. As long as you're not KILLED by those pooches, you're cool with it. Rip off a man's hand, tear the occassional toddler to shreds - as long as they're not registered as a fatality any criticism of the pit bull breed is nonsensical right??
I did a little bit of research on dog breeds and fatalities. It appears that pits are responsible for about 1/3 of fatalities caused by dogs. That's significant.
Pure.
Best little girl in town. Her only problem is she loves to steal my daughters blankie so that she can sleep with it!
Wrong.
The point is that if you are going to be logically consistent
and effective in your quest to rid the world of dangerous dogs
then you must not stop at "pit bulls".
All deaths and maimings are equally tragic
regardless of the type or breed of dog responsible.
Thanks Shyla! Ditto for your girl. I'll bet she likes the snow!
