When it comes to reputable sources of broadcast news, you think Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, hell even Simon Rex was a VJ. The one thing all three have in common though, is that they were given a proper forum to retire publically to their viewers.
MTV'S KURT LODER HAS BEEN FIRED! reports a Viacom insider.
In a follow-up to the previous post about MTV's Valentine's Day Employee Massacre, this news comes in the form of a personal "shock & awe".

It seems like just yesterday that we were seeing Pete Townshend saying "I want my MTV". Those were the days.

That relic John Norris can't be too far behind.

I saw Mark Goodman do a History Channel show recently. He looked the same, except for short hair.

She's been working as a DJ. She had a gig here in Denver at an 80s retro station a few years ago.

Ah, I stopped watching MTV when they stopped playing music. I'll watch the odd movie now and then.
No wonder I don't know who Loder is/was.

(No third term. Hillary Clinton's 2008 election run presents a Constitutional Crisis.)

I remember when MTV played the same 20 videos over and over 24/7

As a joke that question occurred to me as well...but truthfully, I wasn't aware that he was still on MTV...I figured he went out at the same time all the other video jockeys did. I haven't watched MTV since they stopped showing videos...**shrug**

It seems like just yesterday that we were seeing Pete Townshend saying "I want my MTV". Those were the days. Actually, that would have been Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.

Technically, it was Sting that sang "I want my MTV" on the Dire Straits song...
Also, I seem to remember that there were several promos of different musicians saying "I want my MTV" as well. I think Townshend was one of them...
Anyway, The Tube Music Network is what a music channel should be - all videos, minimal (local only) commercials, and no "shows"...

The original poster was talking about the MTV commercials that used to feature popular artists of the day saying "I want my MTV!". That was their slogan and that is where Dire Straits got it for their song.

Actually, the song is about an experience Mark Knopfler had in an appliance store when he overheard some employees talking as they watched MTV on the display models.

The original poster was talking about the MTV commercials that used to feature popular artists of the day saying "I want my MTV!". Thanks for the correction. I must confess that I don't remember those spots - probably because I was fantasizing about Martha Quinn when they came on.
