LOS ANGELES -- Actor Omar Sharif has pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and was ordered to take an anger management course.
Sharif was accused of punching a parking valet who'd refused to accept his European currency.
The Egyptian-born acting legend wasn't required to be in court. The plea was entered by an attorney.
The judge in Beverly Hills, Calif., placed Sharif on two years' probation.
A civil lawsuit filed by valet Juan Anderson alleged that Sharif and a female companion were leaving a restaurant in June of 2005 when the actor became upset that his SUV wasn't waiting.
According to the lawsuit, Sharif was allegedly belligerent and intoxicated and punched the valet when he refused to accept a 20-euro note.
His lawyer said Sharif decided to plead no contest because it would have cost too much to fly to Los Angeles and testify
How about a bottle cap & some pocket lint?
Isn't this guy about 117 years old ?
Don't You Know Who I Am Ping!
"Don't You Know Who I Am Ping!"
He's Dr. Zhivago!
He could have just challenged him to a competition bridge match.
And then he was heard to say, "Ala Akbar!"
74
I thought he was older too.
Now, that's funny.LOL
Pretty feisty for a 74-year-old bridge player.
Only 74, believe it or not. But "Lawrence of Arabia" was a long time ago.
"Sharif don't like it...Rockin' the Casbah..."
Feb 2007 Omar shows his punching fingers...they are pretty sharp!
Correct-a-mundo!!!!!!!
Also the Sheik on "Hidalgo" Man, if I was that valet, I would have snatched up that 20-euro note in a heartbeat. That's a good tip for parking a car.
What's he done lately ?
"What's he done lately?"
Aside from punching valets, I haven't got a clue.
Not time.
Is that his daughter? She looks about 17 and he looks sinister. I think I will keep my "oh what a hunk" memory of him from his Dr. Zhivago days.
I guess he has not caught on the going into rehab band wagon like the rest of Hollywood....at least he is taking anger management...
grumpy old man
