"The Durham Police Department is currently investigating an allegation that a female Duke student was raped early Sunday morning at a party attended by other Duke students, University officials said in a statement Sunday night."
snip
"Several students have confirmed that a party hosted by some members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.-at least one of whom is a resident at the Gattis address-was occurring at the time of the alleged incident."
"An 18-year-old woman told officers that she was raped in a bathroom around 3 a.m. while attending a party at the Gattis house. There were about 50 people at the party, police said."
snip
"Police said the suspect is described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, about 6-foot-1 and was wearing a black do-rag, gray sweatshirt and blue jeans."

"New" rape at Duke? There was never an "Old" one. The headline should be "Reported Rape at Duke".
The article was written by Adam Eaglin.
Oh. I thought it refered to what the Terps did to the Dukies yesterday. (I know. A joke in poor taste.)
Good point although I'm sure there have been other rapes besides the drummed up one you're referring to. The writer would merely reply that he/she wasn't referring to the LaCrosse players.
No. Even though I have been here since 1998, this is my first attempt at starting a thread. How do I change the title?
Thanks.
Exactly!
See my post #5. The headline was changed on this posing for effect, I'm sure.
Nothing to see here... Move along...
I love how the media is reporting this. the local TV nutcases stated that a "second rape" had occured involving a femals tudent - just like the former rape. (or some such thing implying both victims were students.
frankly, my sympathies are inhibited when someone intentionally goes to a frat party and has sex.
that said there isn't really enough info to make a decision here.
Guess there won't be a "march for justice." Unless it is for the perp.
Will be interesting to see how Brodhead, Nifong, etc. respond.
But let me point out that the Duke Lacrosse Frame/Hoax is STILL going on. The accused are STILL facing 30-year prison terms. And there still exists the very real possibility that the Special Prosecutors now assigned to examine the case are primarily focused on still finding SOME KIND OF CHARGE to get this case to trial, and not on a search for justice, in order to save the state political and financial embarassment.
The lacrosse case is a political trial; and in political trials, noise counts. If you want to get involved in helping raise the noise level (and maybe saving three innocent defendants from wrongful conviction, and an entire town/county from a corrupt oligarchy); please consider signing the following:

I have not seen anything that suggests the alleged victim is white.
Has anyone else?
Entering Durham sounds like going into Baghdad these days. Police department may be a little 'iffy'... judicial system seems a 'somewhat' primitive, violent crime per capita about the same... But at least Baghdad has a 'Green Zone'.
Check out the frat link for a pic of the members and their nicknames.
Also, how do I get this posted on News/Activism and the DukeLax list?
Thanks in advance!
Nothing in the linked article about the race of the reported victim. I think the poster may be reading more into the situation that is actually there.
Nifong's response was it is impossible for poor black males to rape rich white Duke females, and if it somehow did happen was not even sure it would be a crime.
