Anna Nicole Smith: Once More, the Fairy Tale Turns Nightmare
http://www.foxnews.com/ ^ | Sunday, February 11, 2007 | Susan Estrich

LOS ANGELES — On Thursday, the world stopped for the death of Anna Nicole Smith. Harvard is electing its first woman president, and the country may be ready to do the same, but the woman of the hour was the one who, as the producer of her most recent film put it, “had the market cornered on the dumb blonde act.”

Why is there still such a vibrant market for “the dumb blonde act?”

“People will see that maybe I have a little talent and will take me serious as an actress,” she said, in explaining her decision to star on “The Anna Nicole Show” which began its two year life on E! Entertainment in 2002.

What people saw, and heard, was that she had difficulty getting out a sentence straight. But Anna Nicole wasn’t somebody to listen to, but to look at. Or leer at. In justifying the endless coverage, the news people kept referring to her climb from the bottom to the top, from teenage mother and waitress to television personality and multi-millionairess.

If Anna Nicole Smith represents the top, we need to teach our daughters to aim elsewhere. If her life was a fairy tale come true, then it tells you what’s wrong with fairy tales. They lie, and mislead. She made it to the top, if you call it that, by taking off hers. She never owned her own success. She was defined by who she married and the size of her breasts. She made many lawyers rich, by fighting for the rights of the golddigger, but she never really won the fight. She gained weight and lost weight, and turned it into her most famous role. She was defined by who she used, and who used her.

In other words, feminism still has work to do. We need more feminism! Then the world would be a better place! That's the ticket! I hear that all the time from my wife ... Morgan Fairchild.

"On Thursday, the world stopped for the death of Anna Nicole Smith."

Can Susan Estrich not speak for herself, or does she really believe this?

Nobody in my immediate circle took the slightest interest in her death.

Some people have lives to live, and bills to pay.

You could subtitle her biography "An American Tragedy."

I was never a fan of hers for a variety of reasons, but was sad to hear of her passing. I am afraid she was the latest archetype for the "shooting star" whose meteoric rise was matched by her rapid decline. Her efforts to stay in the spotlight beyond her 15 minutes of fame appear to have cost her her life.

I didn't pay much notice. The one time I saw her was in a video where she and her older husband were on a motor bike. He was grinning from ear to ear. I remember thinking that he seemed happy, and went on with my life. Sad, that she didn't have a happy ending.

Susan, the reason people like the dumb blond act is because it is not as offensive to the senses as your shrill, raspy, dried-up feminazi act.

Actually, this is how I felt about Princess Di - except of course for the bit about the big hooties.

Personally, my life is/was never affected by either death. While I do lament the focus of both PD and ANS, at least no one mistook ANS as a role model. That being said, my prayers go out to both women and their families.

I sure Susan would have thought better of Anna if Anna had been a big Democrat donor. Bimbos with body temperature IQs are OK if the owner donated to the Democrat cause.

What's the source of your "ugh!"? Do you find fault with her scholarship? I've only read one of her books, myself.

Surely the objection to her is not that she doesn't look like Anna Nicole Smith? The last president of Harvard, Larry Summers, was not exactly a raving beauty, and I don't think that's really a hiring criterion for a university president, is it?

Time for THE LIST!!!!!

This case has not been so much about the Tabloid Anna Nicole Smith, but the legal crises surrounding;
The death of a son - about to reach his majority (age 21)of undetermined manner and cause. Could be homicide.
The birth of a daughter - whose paternity and custody is in question - who may also have been born addicted to illegally obtained prescription drugs.
The premature, undetermined death of the infant's mother -could be homicide, suicide or misadventure.
Conspiracy to access a $1.6billion estate and eliminate per stirpes heirs.
Conspiracy by lawyers and foreign government officials to circumvent immigration laws for fraudulent purposes.
Intent to defraud owners of real property and real estate.
Illegal transportation of prescription drugs, by interstate and international waters.
Potential kidnapping of a US citizen.
Creation and presentation of fraudulent documents to avoid parental and custodial rights.
Possible religious bias against a Southern Baptist/Christian upbringing for a child who had a GODMOTHER appointed by her mother, who had a "Baptist" minister perform a "committment ceremony". Will the self-appointed father honor this religious affiliation or circumvent it?

WE SHOULD ALL BE TERRIFIED THAT THESE SAME LAWYERS, GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND JUDGES COULD PUT ALL OF US IN JEOPARDY.

A REVIEW OF ALL THE "LEGAL" RULINGS TO DATE SHOULD REMIND US TO NEVER LEAVE OUR AFFAIRS IN THE HANDS OF LAWYERS OR JUDGES.
