The situation you now present is different fom what you said before.

I don't think there ever is a need or reason to explain what six is to young girls.

"Two of my friends had girls who started their periods at 9 yrs old. If that happens what do you tell them?"

You tell them that they have reached the age at which such a thing is normal and how to deal it with it. They can always learn more when they're older or get married. I prefer the latter.

Nine years old seems too young to experience the phenomenon.

No wonder girls are falling behind in math! :-)

Full Disclosure: Spellchecker is your friend, but it is not infallible.

Cheers!

Yes it does but it is happening more often then you would think. I don't know why but maybe its due to what is put into our food. Hormones etc. I just pray to God it doesn't start that early with my child.

As for my post...here it is again...
I don't know.....but its not the first time I have read about it over the years. I sure wouldn't want my child knowing about it but....you have some 9 year old girls getting their periods so I guess sometimes you need to TALK to your child about sex earlier then I would like to. NEVER could I imagine showing a child about sex....Telling them is fine by me and at the age I think they are ready to learn about it.

I still stand by it. If my child comes to me asking questions I will answer them the best I can for her age ...And I would rather tell my child about sex before she learns it from a movie at school or from a friend. Each of my children asked about sex at different ages. I do not want anyone but myself explaining sex to my child. Each child is different and asks questions when they are ready. .....You do know they usually show a movie about girl's health issues in the 4th and 5th grades don't you? I don't agree with it but the fact is they even talked about it when I was in 6th grade and that was many years ago. Since I breed dogs my daughter understands about dog breeding and she has seen puppies born. So I think she has an idea of what is what.
