Think I can make a chocolate version of your cookies? I REALLY want to make black hearts to bring into work.

Not a fan of V-day.

Here is a chocolate version though this one has mint in it but you can omit that if you do not want or like mint.

Chocolate Mint Cut out Cookies Recipe #197336

They come out soft and chewy if you cook them just right. Ice (Frost) them if you want.
36
cookies
time to make 1½ hours 25 min prep
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Frosting

2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1-2 tablespoon milk
  1. Cream the butter and sugar. Add the egg and extracts beating until fluffy. Stir in all the remaining dry ingredients on low speed until well mixed.
  2. Divide the dough in half; wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate 1 hour.
  3. Roll dough on a lightly floured board to 1/8th inch thickness. Cut into shapes and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  4. Bake at 400 degrees F for 6-8 minutes or until set. Cool.
  5. For frosting: combine the butter, sugar and extract. Gradually add just enough milk for spreading consistency
