A Leander man pleads guilty to having child porn on his home computer, and is sentenced to forty years in prison. Investigators say William Jonathon Young, 47, had thousands of explicit images of children on his home computer. They testified a female friend of Young’s alerted them to his collection. She says she became concerned when she saw a pornographic screen saver on Young’s monitor. Young pleaded guilty to ten counts of possession of child pornography – and will serve out a forty year sentence. Court documents say Young admitted to collecting child pornography for decades.

The only problem I have with this is the light treatment ACTUAL child abusers and rapist get- they SHOULD get the death penalty.

Look at that pedophile who admitted to raping multiple children who got a 3 month sentence from a liberal judge about 3 or 4 months ago.

This blows my mind.

Mine, too.
Forty years in prison for a thought crime?
If there were any charges of his actually harming children, it went unmentioned.

A few days ago, a bunch of savages were sentenced to probation or a few months of prison for viciously beating several young women and causing them permanent injury because they were white.

That blows my mind.
Remember, if a woman has a restraining order against an abusive partner bent on murder, all jusrisdictions proclaim the inability to do anything to prevent her murder, but can only respond if the perp actually commits the deed.

That blows my mind.

I used to be convinced the United States was the most just nation on Earth - but somehow we've given it all away.

What thought crime? I suggest that you read the article, this had nothing to do with a 'thought crime' of any sort.

Why? Because some sick bastard collects child pornography? There will always be evil, but it's how a society deals with evil, that shows how just that society is. I assure you, in other countries, this POS would not even get 3 years for this. 40 years, that's justice, though I prefer that every state adopts Arizona's laws: 10 years per picture.

So correct me if I am wrong. You are saying that it is okay since it is a thought crime and he did not act upon his thoughts?

If that is what you are saying, I believe you are way off line. He is contributing to these abusers by getting these pictures.

If this is not what you are saying, then I guess I do not understand. Please explain more.

This is NOT a victimless crime. What do you suppose happened to the children who are pictured in this pervert's photo collection? They were raped, and their rapes were filmed and provided on the Internet.

His desire to have the pictures was fulfilled by the grossest possible abuse of children. It is no different than a user of hard drugs, where the user says, "It's my body and I'll do what I want." But what if the production and delivery of those drugs are brought about by the murder of people both in the US and elsewhere? Is that, too, a victimless crime?

Understand that all actions have consequences. The consequences for the children in the "thousands of pictures" this man had, is thousands of children who are seriously and permanently harmed. Their childhoods are destroyed. Their lives as adults are in serious danger -- assuming their adult users do not just kill them and throw away their bodies like used Kleenex.

"Thought crime," indeed.
