YEA!!!! Bum will be proud. Or mad. One or the other, lol. Way to go, Wade!
Hope he does well.
Who is this guy? What team did he come from?
"Who is this guy? What team did he come from?"
DC from SD.
Should I dawn the mourning jersey now?
I think he was once the head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Could be worse: could be Norv Turner.
What about their D coordinator? Will Rivera jump ship? If so Dallas just might be pretty good, you know, 9-7.
Wade Phillips (born June 21, 1947 in Orange, Texas) is the current head coach for the National Football League's Dallas Cowboys. He is also a former head coach of the Denver Broncos, where his record was 16-16, and the Buffalo Bills, where he was 29-19 and led the Bills to the playoffs in 2 out of 3 seasons. His winning percentage as a head coach is 56.25. He is considered one of the great defensive minds in football, and served as defensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers from 2004-2006.[citation needed] Wade is the son of former NFL coach Bum Phillips.
Phillips' most successful coaching stop was at Buffalo. He always kept the team competitive and in the playoff hunt. A stunning loss to the Titans in the 1999 playoffs haunted Phillips for the rest of his time at Buffalo and the team never fully recovered. In this same season he caused a controversy when he inserted Rob Johnson as starting quarterback, despite the fact that Doug Flutie had led the team to the playoffs. His recent success as the Chargers' defensive coordinator and his desire to be a head coach again prompted some rumors that he might get his wish, and it was announced on February 7, 2007 that Phillips would be named the seventh head coach in Cowboys history, replacing the retired Bill Parcells.
He also has the dubious distinction of having been replaced by a father and a son from two head coaching positions by Jim Mora I from the New Orleans Saints and by Jim Mora II from the Atlanta Falcons.

Yep, 9-7 sounds about right.
I want Landry back. He had class.
I am not overcome with excitement about this. He seems to be too soft to handle TO. Hopefully he only has a 2 year contract and there will be some better options out there in the next year or two.
Norv Turner would've been better. The only reason he didn't get the job is that he told Jones his coaching appointments were BS. And he's right--the head coach should be allowed to get his own guys in there.
So do I, Landry was The Man.
Underwhelming and dumb move, unless:
1) He's a placeholder so that they can go after Lovie Smith in a year (Phillips has been a half-year interim head coach before at New Orleans and Atlanta)
2) They view Jason Garrett as a true phenom and Phillip is there for a few years to groom Garrett for the HC position
As a Cowgirl hater, I love this hire!
So Marty has lost both his coordinators. The pressure is really going to be on him next year.
They won't be quite that good.
Norv Turner would've been better.
