Congressman John Culberson (R-TX) announced today in Houston, TX that DHS-Inspector General Richard Skinner admitted that his deputy inspectors Lisa Redman and James Taylor as well as DHS congressional liaison Tamara Faulkner LIED to members of Congress about statements that are foundational to the prosecution's case against Border Patrol agents Compean and Ramos.
The DHS inspectors claimed that the Border Patrol agents were "rogue cops" and that they had very damning sworn statements to that effect:
1. They knew that he was unarmed.
2. They knew that he was not a threat to them.
3. That they had said that morning that they were going to "go out and shoot them some Mexicans."
Furthermore, the DHS officials promised Congress that they would produce those sworn statements for Congressional review. That was four and a half months ago. Since then, DHS has stalled and obfuscated every time the Congressional members wrote letters or made phone calls to collect those statements.
All three of those statements have now been proven as false. DHS-IG Skinner admitted yesterday that his deputies lied to Congress and that those sworn statements do not exist and that Congress had been "misled".
Culberson has concluded that DHS deliberately lied to Congress and gave them false information in order to "throw them off the scent" of their investigation into the Border Patrol case. He said this is indicative of a large-scale cover-up inside of DHS, the Department of Justice, and the entire prosecution against Compean and Ramos. He and other Congressman will be announcing today their demand for a full investigation into the DHS cover-up and the immediate resignations of the DHS officials involved.
I'll have more updates within a few hours, which I'll post here, including the audio of John Culberson's announcement.

Resignation? Isn't lying to congress a crime?
I'll probably get flamed for this, but I would support impeachment charges for willful failure to protect the borders.
Only if you're a Republican!
That other one's in the Siberia of Chat/General, where the "news/activism" readers will never see it.
With over 500 replies? you're kidding yourself...
xcamel, I don't read that forum, so I didn't know it was posted over there. Please don't take it so personally. I was just trying to get the word out. The more people that read about it the better.
You've already gotten one of my threads shut down, so content yourself with that, and call it a day.
No hard feelings, OK?
Well said.
There's far more information - FACTS - that you need to bring yourself up to speed on:

There are too many questions not to see the Transcripts of the court proceedings.
There are too many things that DHS has lied about.
I'd rather see a decision made as to whether or not to pardon them or give them a new trial once all of this information has been released to the Congressional Committee looking into it.
If after that, they are denied a parole, I personally will let it drop.
There's something about this entire affair tho that stinks too bad just to let it go.
Under questioning by Culberson, Skinner admitted DHS did not in fact have investigative reports to back up the claims: "The person who told you that misinformed you," Skinner reportedly replied.
This prompted a startled and angry response from Culberson, who charged Skinner's office with lying to the Texas congressmen and painting Ramos and Compean as dirty cops.
Responding to Skinner's testimony yesterday, Poe said it "explains why DHS has been stonewalling Congress."
"DHS didn't turn over the reports to us to back up their September 26 accusations for one simple reason the reports never existed," the Texas congressman said.
"Why did it take DHS four months to admit their error?" he asked. "I wonder how much more has DHS told the public and Congress about Ramos and Compean that simply isn't true?"
Poe said he's determined to get to the bottom of DHS's claim.
I hardly think an experienced criminal judge would qualify as overly emotional or non-thinking. He's seen it all and this has shocked him to the core.
THINK ABOUT IT: Why would the federal government look for a hardened criminal drug smuggler and give him immunity - not once, but TWICE - to testify against American law enforcement officers who verbally reported the shooting to their superiors? Why would the federal government lie to Congress and try to paint the LEOs as "rogue cops" when they clearly were NOT? Why has the prosecution been caught in several egregious lies about the case, including lying to the defense attorneys about the ballistics reports, and lying to the jurors during the court proceedings???
You are exactly right.
The trial was finished in March of 2006. The court has refused to complete the transcripts - and it's been 11 months!
Ask any judge or attorney and they will tell you that most court transcripts are completed within days.
The court's reason for the delay? Their transcriptionist has been "sick". Too sick to move her fingers across a keyboard to complete the transcripts for one of the most important court cases this year?? Too sick for almost a full year???? C'mon - get that poor woman a doctor already!! And give the court records to someone else to trascribe.
Nothing about this case washes - it's DIRTY.
Ditto. The greatest danger to this country comes from open borders.
Regarding the trial transcripts not being ready - this makes no sense unless there is one huge frame-up and cover-up.
Just look at xcamel's posting history;he's nortorious for being a Thread Cop--ignore him.
The greatest danger to this country comes from government officials that do everything within their power (and often illegally) to make sure the borders remain open and the morale of the border patrolmen remains low.
