Her body was found in a hallway, still clutching one of her cats. That cat and another one died in the fire.

:(

One of the dead felines was badly burned, leading Rothrock to think it might have caught fire after knocking over the candle.

Very unlikely, unless the cat's fur was soaked with alcohol or gasoline when it knocked over the candle. Cats will generally scamper off quickly if they knock anything over. If the flame was starting to spread, the cat would definitely have run off. A candle flame comming in contact with a cat's fur will singe it (especially when it has a second or less of contact, because the cat is running off), not cat the fur on fire and spread to the rest of the fur. The badly burnt cat had probably tried to hide somewhere when the smoke and flames became intense, and got trapped.

Some people will say she was absolutely crazy. But I understand. They were that important to her.

No one should ever underestimate the power of a fire. I know people who died in them, thinking there was less danger than there was. Very sad.

Sad that the woman who loved her cats died along with 3 of her 7 cats.
