I guess it's a safe to assume that they won't be upgrading to Vista.
Kewl.
I wonder how much spyware it's already picked up...
Sixty-eight new cabinets for Jaguar arrived here from Cray's manufacturing center in Wisconsin late last year and were installed on the second floor of the National Center for Computational Sciences.
Within the next few weeks, the new orange-and-white cabinets will be combined with the existing Jaguar processors that have been operating at ORNL for the past year.
It's very exciting to be part of a large system upgrade like this one. I had a hand in the first 3084-to-3090 conversion in our fair city, connecting and testing some high performance comm's equipment to the CPU's I/O channels. Later, I was running production jobs on the same system. Quite a feeling to be one of very few programmers allowed on the raised floor with the operations staff, in the midst of all of this high-dollar hardware, some of which I hooked up myself. Simply awesome.
...part of the lab's "Jaguar" system, a Cray XT4 supercomputer...:')
I thought "petaflop" is what the UT football team does every year against Florida.
