I went out and bought an ATI X1650 Pro from Best Buy last night ($206). I'll post occasionally the joys of configuration.

Shame I have to work this afternoon and tomorrow, but I WILL have a stable system by Sunday morning.

My son had an Age of Empires III party here last night with 8 players. Have computers scattered everywhere and teenagers sleeping on every soft surface. My better half and the girls have left so we can, umm... "Clean this place up before we get back!" I kinda hope that they take in a long movie after shopping.

I have downloaded several drivers from ATI and ATITools from techPowerUp! Should be an interesting morning.

See ya'll in an hour.

No problems installing or getting the drivers to run.

I am getting an error message that I have the wrong version of DirectX 9. Surprising as I keep Winders up to date. Off to check it out now.

...

Interesting that M$ wants a Genuine (PITN) validation for DirectX. It is also a different validation than I am used to seeing.

...

Now running Project: 2736 (Run 7, Clone 564, Gen 4)

I just got an X1950pro.

If anyone has any tips for the GPU folding stuff, I would appreciate them. It was an adventure just fitting the thing into the case. The 400 watt PSU seems to be holding its own, but I've got a new 500 watt PSU waiting, unopened, if the 1950 needs the extra juice.

I downloaded the GPU client, but it seems to be finishing up the old Gromacs unit before it starts anything.
