An end should be put to pit bulls (rottweilers, etc.), but through birth control. Many people have pit bulls and other aggressive species of dog that are not particularly violent.

I wouldn't mind seeing a mandatory steriliztion program but how would it be enforced?

Every time I read a story about a pit bull that mauled or killed someone the owner always says it was the sweetest dog they ever had, blah blah blah.
