Sixty-five-year old Von Pardue was injured when a pit bull attacked him on his morning walk today.
It did have its rabies vaccination at the shelter before being released back to the owner, police said.
The dog was released? When I grew up, once you had a biter, you destroyed the dog.
That breed needs to be exterminated. That man is very lucky to be alive.
The dog that attacked Pardue is a 2-year-old male, according to Conroe police officials. The dog was picked up by Conroe Police Animal Patrol officers on Dec. 12 for running at large and was later claimed by the owner at the animal shelter in Conroe.
Congratulations to this man for surviving a harrowing ordeal.
I'm one of these guys who always has a plan for any kind of possible disater/life threatening situation, etc.
I'm VERY protective of my dog and will be taking home a new puppy soon. When I'm with my dog at the "bark park" I NEVER sit and chat with the other owners, I'm always on the periphery of where my dog is playing, not interfering, just ready to protect him. I can tell when another dog is on the verge of being aggressive and will move in and get my dog to start playing with other dogs who are well behaved.
The couple of times a dog went after my dog I was there in a microsecond and aggressively backed the dog off, I didn't scream, I said "hey" in a firm tone of voice and made an aggressive move towards the dog showing dominance and the dog's backed off, luckily-I was ready to fight and kill though.
I know in a life threatening situation, I will be able to kill any dog unless they sneak attack me and sever an artery in my neck. My first move will be to throw one devastating punch to whatever area is exposed, I might not recommend this method to a woman or weak man. I know how to throw a punch and deliver a blow, I'm a big lifelong athlete and can hit a golf ball 350 yards. If a dog has locked on to my dogs neck I will try to punch and break it's neck if possible, followed by tackling(getting my arms around) the dog by the body and trying to land with my full body weight on the dog, if done right it will break ribs/knock the wind out of the dog and damage it internally. If the dog is still fighting I will grab at any leg and try to snap it. All of the above actions should take no more than a few seconds in total.
"he heard a dog barking".... okay no big deal
"saw the dog running toward him from the corner of his eye."
A normal person would be concerned, Is this a friendly dog or not?
Our hero though, "when I seen it was pit bull, I knew I was in trouble"
He saw it was a "pit bull" and he knew he was in trouble.
So he puts up his hands and "hollers"
Any of you folks know of a friendly dog that will jump up to say hello?
What do you think the reaction of a person who was predisposed to fear dogs would be?
Would it be something like Mr. Pardue's...
"Pardue said. "He jumped for my head and when he jumped, I got him upside the head with my fist." link
We don't know from this report if the dog was being friendly or not.
What we do know is that this fellow when he saw the type of dog knew he was in trouble. Let's assume for the sake of arguement that the dog was being friendly,
not a great stretch because according to the report the dog didn't come right up and bite him,
so imagine its surprise when this fellow greets it with a punch in the side of the head
and violently grabs it by the ears and head.
You think the dog just might become afraid and try to defend itself?
Now this guy continues his attack "With his knee, Pardue said he hit the dog in the ribs"
or as another report quotes him...
"I just bounced on him right in the ribs as hard as I could and when I hit him in the ribs, his jaws just popped open and I got my hand out," he said.
Not up on my WWF terms but sounds like a pile driver knee drop.
At this point he drags this 'viscous' dog,
whom we are supposed to assume is still alive, home and calls 911,
and doesn't realize until he puts the dog in the patrol car that its dead.
Well color me sceptical about that.
I'm wondering if the dog wasn't dead from the moment it had its ribs broken and thrust through its heart and lungs.
Now putting all speculation aside, what the hell kind of owner lets their dog get loose?
Once might be chalked up to error but this dog had been loose before.
The owner had his warning and did not ensure that there would be no repeat.
For Dog's Sake people, if your not worried about your dog attacking anyone
at least be worried about humans assuming your dog is going to attack and killing it.
This owner woun't be getting a third chance.
Off to work...back later to put out the flames :)
Give 'em hell Von!GREAT work.
BTW if they have no collar, feed them your left arm and rip their throat out with your right.
Don't mess with Texas!
