In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
pellucid \puh-LOO-sid\, adjective
1. Transparent; clear; not opaque.
2. Easily understandable.
Example sentences:
The prevailing atmosphere as one cruises Kukulcan Boulevard, the busy strip where most of Cancun's 122 hotels are clustered, remains that of an Orlando or a Las Vegas dropped intact next to pellucid Caribbean waters.
-- Larry Rohter, "What's Doing in Cancun.", New York Times, March 8, 1998
In her scrupulous and pellucid prose, she appears to distance herself from the optimistic Californian light.
-- Cynthia Ozick, "What Writer's Writers Write.", New York Times Magazine, January 2, 2000
Etymology:
Pellucid comes from Latin pellucidus, "shining, transparent," from pellucere, "to shine through," from per-, "through" + lucere, "to shine."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
guess they don't build them into their schedules down there? i think our's have at least a few days to play with and if they don't get snow days will get out earlier at the end of the year.
Global warming has brought us snow in North Texas as well. The roads weren't too bad, but I was delayed somewhat this morning. Will have a new classroom open shortly.
that's how they turn feral ; )
Damn global warming, tonight's low is 9 degrees and tomorrow night's low is 5 degrees.
Where's ARGH??
Hey, it's Ground Hog day, wake up!
Punxsutawney Phil says early Spring! This weekend we will have highs only up to 10 and lows could get below zero. I expect a 2 hour delay Monday for the cold.
how'd i miss punxatawney phil this AM?? early spring my behind!

I think we have 5 snow days built into the schedule every year and we haven't used more than 1 or 2 for the past few years. Kids are sledding down the big hill nearby.
