Well, my husband is out using the **** blower, then heading to work. I'm leaving shortly for Bible study, exercises, etc, and will probably have to shovel later on...not heavy **** but steady, and sticking...

I've made calls, always, and will do more. I haven't contributed to the Senate or House, or National R committee in several years, so can't really sign that pledge...however, I sure have donated bundles of time!

Good Morning Everyone!
Just stopped in for a moment to get my daily dose of sanity before heading to a series of meetings. (Oh what fun!)
Think I will go in search of another cup of coffee before the first meeting starts. Since I am running it, I guess it would be in bad taste for me to doze off during it! :)
Back in a while.

GOOD A.M. HONORABLE CHAIR. ALL, FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA, BRUISED BUT GETTING BETTER, A WEE LITTLE BIT BUT, BETTER!!!
And there is La. New Orleans I speak of, they are doing nothing fro recovery and crime is totally out of control. folks are starting to call it 'downtown Badgdad' and all that is being done is nothing but bitching about the federal government not coming in and completely rebuilding that hell hole. They have always have had the reputation that the state motto is 'gimme, gimme, gimme' and on a big scale now. N.O. is a dead city and a good chance if you go there you will be dead too. It is 1$ for you and 3$ for me when it comes to funds. I am just tired of their bitching, do as we did, roll up the sleeves and get with it. My daddy use to say, 'the truth ain't never hurt nobody'
I am so sick watching these turncoats from the pub party raising the white flag, to hell with the president even if he DID pull my butt from defeat in this last election.
Now, out situation with getting the sister of Jason. Yesterday we had a attorney from the foster care come out and talk to Tracy and Terry about getting her. Looks like the chances are not so good. This little girl is 8 months old and the family that has her got her at the age of 3 DAYS and raised her to this time. A bond develops for sure and they love this child as their own and hope to adopt her. All we want is the best for this child and for sure, she is getting the best. We think the only Christian thing to do is to let her stay and drop the matter. Jason is another thing, we all have bonded with him and all is well with the agency in the kids adopting him and the process is starting today. We leave it all in the Lord's hands.
We have been wanting to send pictures to all on Jason but have to wait as the foster care says that is a no-no, sending the pictures over the computer. When we do you too are going to fall in love with him. He sure has captured my heart....
May I say that I am so blessed to have this privilege to talk to each and every one of you? I feel this is just one big happy family and I will never be able to tell you just how I feel about you all, each of you makes me proud....
Time to clean up my shack in the back then, pick up things in the back yard. been to the back of the place twice already to shoot at a chicken hawk, fool thing keeps coming back.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Speaker Nancy Pelosi
released the following statement today in support of H. Res. 78, which would amend House rules by granting the Delegates from the District of Columbia, Guam, the Virgin Islands, and American Samoa, and the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico the right to vote in the Committee of the Whole House:
"I am pleased that the House acted today to restore the voice of the four Delegates and the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in the Committee of the Whole that they previously had. These Members of Congress represent more than 5 million Americans who deserve having their voices
heard in Congress.
"The House is ordained to be a marketplace of ideas. We should work to expand democracy, not limit it. To reach our full potential, Democrats understand that all voices in America must be heard. I look forward to working with the Delegates and the Resident Commissioner in advancing our
agenda for the American people."

Chair, it reads to me like Pelosi has given Commissioners and delegates a voice in committee meetings/hearings, where all the real work is done. FNC said last night this was unConstitutional.

I have been on vacation this week, unfortunately, I have had an inner ear infection and have been dizzy since Monday. :( Reading at the computer makes it worse.
I did talk to my nephew, he sang with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on New Year's Eve 2007. They chose 180 SLC high school seniors to sing with the choir. He said it was quite an experience, he thought Craig Jessop (the choir conductor) was quite demanding, but he really liked Mac Wilberg. The song they sang from Lord of the Rings was 'In Dreams'. Back to lurking...

Chair, it reads to me like Pelosi has given Commissioners and delegates a voice in committee meetings/hearings, where all the real work is done. FNC said last night this was unConstitutional. There is precedent--the 103rd Congress did the same thing.
Not sure it's unconstitutional, however, as it does not affect the outcome of legislation as that still has to be voted on by the whole House, even if it came out of the Committee of the Whole. Additionally, each chamber is allowed to set its own rules, and it is in this context that such is being done.
From a practical matter, it doesn't mean anything. United States organized territories (as opposed to states) only get one representative and that person can either be in the Senate or House, but not both. Traditionally, they have been in the House. The reason it doesn't mean anything is the structure of the House is such the minority is powerless anyway. We just get to whine. All committees are set up with enough majority power to push through legislation, so it doesn't matter whether we lose a Committee vote by 14-8 versus 12-8, we still lose. That also means these delegates don't even have "horse trading" capability--for the same reason, the majority simply doesn't need their votes.
It's symbolism, nothing more.
That said, I don't agree with it, but we didn't win last November. When we win in November 2008, we can fix this.
