One of the most disturbing aspects is that this very talented actress and her family either don't understand or don't care how the left is using her to promote their sickening agenda.

"...It's not just the rape scene – the whole story is challenging Dakota as an actress..."

Is it just me? Are these people whacked?

Leave Dakota alone. Her family (who manages her career) approved of this, it's really none of our business.

She's a fine actress, a prodigy. The people protesting this movie haven't even seen it.

The issue of whether a 12 year old should be in this type of movie aside, the director and actress have said there was no "simulated rape scene" and that the man was never on top of her during the filming. The critics should get their facts straight if they want to speak with any credibility. The charges in the article about this being borderline sexual abuse, or something to that effect, are incorrect.

After having read this I can confidently predict, among other things, that this kid will make her first visit to Betty Ford by the age of 16.

Hey come on! In the movie, Dakota isn't doing or dressing in any way you can't see hundreds of her contemporaries doing if you go to a local mall. And, obviously, there isn't anything wrong with that since their mothers are right there with them. What a bunch of prudes! Don't you all realize that 12 year olds today are as sophisticated as 16 year olds of a few years ago. Dakota will grow up to be just as normal as any other child actor - like Britney, Lindsay Lohan, etc....

As I recall, the film "pretty Baby" had Drew Barrymore as being initiated into sex/prostitution as a virgin for sale.

I don't remember Barrymore's age but am sure someone will look it up.

Slippery slope? What slippery slope?

How near is our society to tolerating sex with children? And 'tolerance' remember, as interpreted in contemporary parlance, means forcefully shoving it down the throat of every man, woman and child.

Having seen a few of these "stages Moms"... they live through their kids and will do ANYTHING to get them to be famous. They compromise their values in order to get their kids in "the business "and into "Hollywood" and call it being creative. I know of one that is spending a lot of money for her daughter to become famous and she is becoming a slut instead. BTW, her name is Britanny also. God help the kids.

Has anyone cited her parents for child endangerment? Certainly they are exploiting her. CPS could intervene.

Or is it "okay" because millions were spent on the project as opposed to some couple shooting their kid with a camcorder?

Couldn't it be that they are leftists themselves and see nothing objectionable about the rape scene?

""At least the producers of 'Hounddog' are aware that an uphill battle is facing them. But since the rape in the movie isn't incest, and since Lewellen never tells anyone about it and the perpetrator isn't punished"

This is the part that bothers me. Depending on how it's handled, it can bring more awareness of the issue. "That" doesn't seem to be the way this movie is portraying the statutory rape of a 12 year old girl.

Any movie that depicts raping a minor is just plain wrong. You know as well as I do that some pervert IS going to copy this and use this movie as an excuse for doing so!

Has anyone else seen the movie "Bastard Out of Carolina?" There is a graphic child rape scene in that movie, the child actress is Jena Malone, who at the time of filming was 10 years old according to Internet Movie Database.

I was discussing sex and violence in movies with my teenaged daughter and concluded that Hollywood really has no clue that sex doesn't really sell movies as they think.

On the contrary, sex and violence in movies is what keeps us from buying much of what Hollywood produces. It's not that there aren't plenty of movies with great story lines, they've had some great ideas for movies. They just shoot themselves in the foot by trying to spice it up, thinking that that's what sells. It doesn't. All they did was ruin a perfectly fine story.
