Apple has dropped the "PowerMac" name in favor of "Mac Pro" for its top end Macintosh workstation class computers.
For clarity, the Mac Pro has been available with two Core 2 Duo Xeon's since its release several months ago. I think you are referring to the possible release of a Dual Quad Core Xeon Mac Pro for a total of 8 processors. Right?

Yep.
"Woodcrest" was the codename for the Xeon 51xx series of Core 2 based processors. The new "Clovertons" are eventually two low thermal designed Woodcrests coupled in a single chip.

Back in September a Mac Pro was "upgraded" with two pre-release "Clovertons" and the resulting 8-Core Mac Pro worked perfectly. http://anandtech.com/mac/showdoc.aspx?i=2832&p=6
I hope that the upgrade is more than just the upgrade of CPUs.
